 Franchise History
The Deccan Chargers franchise is
owned by The Deccan Chronicle
corporation

 They acquired the franchise from IPL for

$107 million on 24 January 2008

 Later, Group M India picked up a 20%

stake in the franchise
 2008 Session
 The franchise initially acquired star players
Adam Gilchrist, Andrew Symonds, Shahid Afridi,
Scott Styris and Herschelle Gibbs. The main
bowlers purchased by the franchise were
R.P. Singh, Nuwan Zoysa,and Chaminda Vaas
.The other Indian players are Rohit Sharma,
Venugopal Rao.
 In this session team went winless at home by just
winning 2 matches out of the 14.

The team changed the logo from gold and red

to white and blue in 2009 .
 The team changed the colour of the jersey
from beige and black to sparkling silver and

New Administration And Support Staff
 They sacked their CEO J.Kalyankrishnan,
Coach Robin Singh and the Captain
V.V.S.Laxman and replaced them with Tim
Wright (who later resigned after violating
the Foreigners Act of India), the former
Australian batsman Darren Lehmann and
former Australian Wicket-Keeper

 the Deccan Chargers franchise acquired two
West Indian players, Fidel Edwards for a fee of
$150,000, and Dwayne Smith for $100,000. Seven
new domestic players were also signed up;
Tirumalasetti Suman and Abhinav Kumar who are
batsmen, bowler Shoaib Maqsusi from the
Hyderabad team signed after their consistent
performances on the domestic circuit. Baroda
batsman Azhar Bilakhia and two fast bowlers from
Punjab, Jaskarandeep Singh and Harmeet Singh
 Despite of finishing at the bottom in last session ,
Deccan staged an inspired comeback in 2009 by
winning the second IPL season

players purely on the basis of talent.
