• Overview on how the interactions of national
economies influence the worldwide pattern of
macroeconomic activity and what is considered as
the core of modern international macroeconomics.
• This course examines models and issues in
international macroeconomics.
• Emphasizes in in-depth understanding of the above
through research individual assignment and group
project and presentations.

Presenter
1. All members should study their poster.
2. During the presentation, all members should participate.
WHAT IS INTERNATIONAL
MACROECONOMICS?
• deals with issues in international finance and macroeconomics, and
covers such issues as
i. the markets for currencies,
ii. balance of payments definitions, and
iii. monetary unions.
• For example:
i. Governments measure the value of exports and imports, as well as
the value of financial assets that flow into and out of their
countries.
ii. Exchange rates - measure how much domestic currency can be
exchanged for foreign currency.
FOCUS
• We address questions such as:
I. How does trade affect the economy at the macro level?
II. What is meant by a country’s BOP?
III. How are exchange rate determined?
IV. Why does financial capital flow rapidly and sizably across country
borders?
V. Should several country adopt a common currency?
VI. How do international transactions affect the use of monetary and
fiscal policy to pursue domestic targets?
VII. How do economic developments in a country get transmitted to
other countries?
