with 3-5 key rules for classroom expectations.
Write them on the big poster paper provided.
If you hear music, you must change tables and
either write or finish a rule on that paper.

Summary
● Allowing students to be a part of the rulemaking process is essential
(adding humor doesn’t hurt)
● For rules to be sustainable, they must be consistently and fairly
enforced
● Effective rules are brief, specific, positively worded, clearly
understood, and consistent with school rules
● From the beginning of the class, the three key aspects to teaching
rules are demonstration, practice, and feedback.
