 From what I have learn about motivation is that Patagonia
motivation is influenced by workplace issues being able to
handle crises in the tough economy
 Yvon wants to be motivated and loyal to the company by
giving employees high level task significance that work is
meaningful

external. Therefore, it can make many employees at various
companies feel as if they were important give the challenges to
make decision
3.What do you think might be Patagonia’s biggest challenge in
keeping the employees motivated?

 To change their attitude and perception towards the company

policies.
 The employees compare their input and outcomes with others
and if they did not get the right amount of outcome or lesser
outcome as compare to their colleague, they get distracted
from the work .
 Patagonia must provide effective training and development
opportunities to its employees in order to motivate them.
 The company should spend quality time in analyzing the
strengths and weaknesses of its employees. By doing this it
will be easier for the company to concentrate on improving
the employees’ skills by minimizing their weaknesses
4. If you were managing a team of Patagonia employees in the retail
stores, how would you keep them motivated?

 Offer fantastic benefits, such as parking discount card and financial

provision for holidays.

 Make sure the work procedures are effective and easy to understand.
for example all employee must be informed clearly about the tasks
that have to do.

 Do the planning and employee development training program

properly, adequately and thoroughly. Identify the objectives of the
training and development to be achieved. Workers skilled in carrying
out their tasks will be more motivated.
