Apa itu propaganda? Apa itu agitasi?
Kenapa propaganda itu penting, sih?
Apa saja teknik propaganda yang kamu ketahui?
“The control of information is something the
elite always does. If you can control
information, you can control people.”
IT’S REALLY EASY TO THINK SOMETHING IS
IMPORTANT.
BUT IT’S NOT ENOUGH AT ALL.

WE NEED TO SPREAD OUR IDEAS, FACTS OR

ALLEGATIONS TO FURTHER ONE’S CAUSE OR TO
DAMAGE AN OPPOSING CAUSE.
AND THAT’S WHY WE NEED A
PROPAGANDA
“Propaganda adalah suatu penyebaran pesan yang
terlebih dahulu telah direncanakan secara seksama
untuk mengubah sikap, pandangan, pendapat, dan
tingkah laku dari komunikan sesuai dengan pola
yang telah ditetapkan oleh komunikator.”
■ The problem is, the information or the
message is not always a knowledge. The
info may or may not be factual.
Element of Propaganda

- Communicator
- Communicant
- Messages
- Presence of Media
- Technique
Propaganda Techniques:

■ Bandwagon: encouraging people to think or act in

some way simply because other people are doing
so.
■ e.g: “178 Negara termasuk Amerika Serikat telah
menyetujui FCTC! Sekarang saatnya Inonesia!”
■ Vague Terms: promoting or challenging an opinion
by using words that are so vague or so poorly
defined as to be almost meaningless
■ e.g: “Mari setujui FCTC, perjanjian yang
menguntungkan dan baik untuk rakyat!”
■ Loaded Words: using words with strong positive
or negative connotations, or associations. So is
any use of words that are charged with emotion.
■ e.g: “Cuma Negara dengan pemerintah tolol yang
tidak mau segera menyetujui FCTC!”
■ Testimonial: Having a person endorse a product,
action, or opinion.
■ e.g: “Saya Presiden Brazil, salah satu Negara
penghasil tembakau terbaik di dunia. Saya
menyetujui FCTC di negara saya.
■ Mostly unreliable.
■ Misuse of Statistics: When the statistics are based
on a falsehood
■ E.g: Four of five doctors recommend blah blah
blah blah
■ Transfer: Making an association between one thing and something
else that is generally viewed as positive or negative.
■ Using images to bring up strong feelings or emotions in order to
persuade.
■ E.g: “WHO mengadakan FCTC karena peduli masyarakat dunia.
Jika memang anda, wahai pemerintah, peduli akan rakyat anda,
maka setujui FCTC segera!”
Snob Appeal: Making a claim that one should act or think in a certain
way because of the high social status associated with the action or
thought
■ Plain Folks: A convincing method to show they are just
common people.
■ Opposite of Snob Appeal
■ Agitation?
■ Comes from agitare, means to stir/shake.
■ To excite a mass to do a rebellion. A movement.
Quiz! Can you guess which propaganda
