Poverty Statistics
 In 2016 there were 40.6 million people in poverty
 The poverty rate in 2016 (12.7 percent) was not
significantly higher than the poverty rate in 2007
(12.5 percent)
 In 2014 NM ranked worst state for poverty in U.S
with 23.4% of the population living below the
poverty line
 In 2015 NM was one of the few states who's
poverty percentage was above 18%.
Fresh Start Initiative
Mission Statement: To serve and provide career opportunities to those in
poverty in Albuquerque.

 Nonprofit organization

Build their resumes
Practice interviewing skills
Find entry level jobs for clients to pursue
Offer and recommend many resources to help them achieve success

 Our organization cares about the quality of life of those in our community and
we wish to better it through helping those in need find job opportunities that
they would otherwise not have.

 Amanda Baldridge works to share the mission of Fresh Start Initiative with
Albuquerque. She has received a Master's Degree in Marketing and a
Bachelor's in English.
 Isabelle Monroe—Career Development Facilitator ($50,000)
 Isabelle Monroe works to ensure that those who come to Fresh Start
Initiative have the skills to gain employment. She has received a Master's
Degree in Counseling, and a Bachelor's Degree in Business.
 Jesus Leyva—IT Manager ($52,000)
 Jesus Leyva works to ensure that Fresh Start Initiative has all the
technology to succeed in our mission. He has received a Master's Degree in
Computer Science.
