Drug = chemical that can change the way the body

works.

Some drugs are used as medicine, for example, aspirin.

These useful drugs are prescribed by doctors to treat

illness.
Useful drugs or Harmful drugs

Drug abuse is the misuse（错用） of drugs without
doctor’s prescriptions for non-medical purposes.

Examples of harmful drugs are:

• Heroin 海洛因
• Crack cocaine 霹雳可卡因
• Amphetamine 安非他命
• Ketamine 克他命
• Meth 甲安菲他明（一种兴奋剂）
• Pill ecstasy 摇头丸
•Curiosity 好奇

oWhatever the reason, drug users usually end up as
addicts上瘾.
oAddict = become dependent on the drug, either in
physically生理 or psychologically心理.

oPhysically addicted the drug becomes necessary for

the normal functioning of the
body
without drug, the addict suffers
withdrawal symptoms such as
abdomen pain腹部疼痛,
vomiting 呕吐, profuse
sweating大量出汗 and tremors
镇颠.
• Psychologically addicted = becomes emotionally
dependent on the drug, always
