Title of Lesson: Under the Sea
Background Information: This lesson is best implemented during total class.
During circle time with the children the activity could be presented to the
children. The learning styles will include a book presenting the sea animals to
the children. As well as videos that will help the children understand were they
live under the sea and what their environment it.
Objective: Once the lesson is completed the children will be able to
understand how we are suppose to take care of our environment. The children
will learn new vocabulary words as well.
Material :
• Crayons, colored pencils, markers
• Crepe paper (blue, green, red, yellow, pink)
• Paper plates
• Construction paper
• Index cards
• Yarn or string
• Book Under the Sea Adventure, Pictures and videos
Procedure:
• Review - the children should have the skills to hold a pair of scissors and follow
directions. The children will also know how turtles, sharks, fish and jellyfish looks by
showing them visuals.

• Present the students with the book presenting the front, back, title, author and
illustrator. Hand each child a prop to encourage them to participate when reading the
book.

skills. Following with a song take me out to the ocean.
• Before the children are excused to their groups they will also be presented with the
materials they will be using to make their sea animals.
• As the children are doing their activity the index cards will be used so teachers can
dictate what they child is saying about their sea animal.
Differentiated Instruction
• The type of lesson that is being used in this lesson plan teacher directed. The
children will have the opportunity to learn about sea animals. They will learn how to
take care of their environment and from nature. The teacher will focus in a standard
and help the child meet that standard. It will be shown in the activity and the
presentation of the book and the material presented to the children.
Discussion Questions: (Depending on the sea animal the child chooses to make)
1. Where did the sea animal live?
2. What is a sea animal?
3. Was the lesson today valuable about sea animals and their environment? Why
should we help clean the ocean clean?
4. Invent a way to protect the sea animals ?
5. Explain in your own words why we need to take care of the environment ?

Evidence of Learning:
• As the children are doing their activity and presenting their activity to the
teacher. The teacher could listen closely to what the child is saying about their
activity.
• Observe the students during Independent Time, check to make sure that the children
are properly putting the activity together.
Next Steps:
• If the students did show evidence of meeting the objective, what will you move
them to next?
• Encourage the children to listen to new vocabulary words.
• Encourage the children to recognize some of the words in the book.
• If the students did not show evidence of meeting the objective, what do you
plan to do next?
• I will re teach the lesson and the activity by readjusting the activity in the areas that
need to be reteach.
• I will also revisit the teaching in the children's perspective in a way they will learn the
same objectives, but in another way.
Home Extension Activity –
• Milk Cap Memory Activity
Use milk caps to stick ocean life stickers. Flip over the milk caps to play a memory game
wit the child at home. A copy of the book could also be given to the parent so they could
use the animals that are used in the book. That could also help the children with the sea
animals they have learn in the book.
