UNIT – I INTRODUCTION TO AVIONICS
• History of Avionics –Needs of Avionics – Role of Avionics in civil and
military Aircraft. Evolution of avionics system Architecture.
UNIT – II AIRCRAFT INSTRUMENTS SYSTEM
• Pitot Tube – Flight Instruments: ASI, VSI, Altimeter, Attitude Indicator,
Heading Indicator, Turn coordinator – Engine Instruments:EGT,Tachometer.
UNIT – III COCKPITS & FLIGHT DECK
• Display technologies LED, LCD, CRT, and
flat Panel Display. HUD, HMD, Night vision goggles, MFD, MFK, Virtual
cockpit – HOTAS
UNIT – IV NAVIGATION
• Definition – Types of Navigation – Radio Navigation: ADF, DME, VOR, ILS –
Inertial Navigation System: Block Diagram Strap down INS – Satellite
Navigation: GPS
UNIT – V AUTOPILOT
• Autopilot Concepts – Autopilot Function – Flight Director – Follow Route –
Fly Heading – Maintain Altitude – Block Diagrams.
