and goes beyond the image and text
characteristic of print-based encyclopedias

Cosmopodia combines “ static images, video,
sound, interactive simulation, interactive maps,
expert systems, ideographs, virtual reality,
artificial life, etc, etc”
Cosmopodia dematerializes the artificial
boundaries between disciplines, making
knowledge “ a large patchwork” in which
virtually any field can be folded onto another.
A shared discourse and CI now become
possible.

Externalization, from Tacit to Explicit

Externalization is a process of articulating tacit

knowledge into explicit concept
It is a quintessential KC process in that tacit
knowledge becomes explicit  taking the
shapes of metaphors, analogies, concepts,
hypotheses, or models

Among 4 modes of KC, Externalization holds

the key to KC because it creates new explicit
concepts from tacit knowledge
