ARTIFICIAL
INTELLIGENCE IN
TRAINING
WHAT IS ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE?

This is intelligence demonstrated by machines, in

contrast to the natural intelligence displayed by
humans
HOW IS THIS APPLIED IN TRAINING?

• Take for example a Mathematics topic in Pre-Calculus like Quadratics.

• In quadratics, a teacher in class would go straight into it and start teaching
things like quadratic equations and solution by factoring.
• The teacher will assume that a student automatically understands the
basics of algebra because it is a pre requisite for Pre-Calculus.You cannot
be in a pre-calculus class if you did not pass algebra!
FIVE EXAMPLES OF CLASSROOM-BASED ARTIFICIAL
INTELLIGENCE
• 1. thinkster math- the math app that offers an unusual touch, it blends real math activity
with a personalized teaching style.
• 2. Brainly- social media site for classroom questions. Ask questions and get automatic
answers!!!! (amazing)
• 3. Content Technologies- deep learning to create textbooks that fit the right courses for
the students
• 4. Mika- tutoring tools for busy students that don’t have time for after-school tutoring.
• 5. Netex learning- variety of digital platforms and devices.
WHAT IF THE STUDENT DOESN’T UNDERSTAND
ALGEBRA?

• In most cases, because a class has many students, the teacher

will just move on since majority of the students already know
and understand algebra.
• The struggling student is left behind and has to go back and
start studying algebra on his own.
HOW DOES ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE SOLVE THIS?

• Learning with AI is amazing because the machine will learn the ability of
the student.
• If it learns that the student is struggling with the Pre-Calculus topic of
Quadratics, it will adjust itself and go back to a lower level of mathematics
like the algebra topic, Equation on a line.
• The intelligent machine will keep adjusting itself until it learns that the
student finally understands the topic being taught.
PRACTICAL EXAMPLE

A quadratic equation is in the form

2
𝑎𝑥 + bx + c = 0
Where a,b and c are constants. The square indicates that this is not a straight line. The
equation, if graphed, will have a turning point.
At this point, if a student does not understand how the equation of a straight line looks like,
the AI system will now teach the basics of straight line equations, which is a topic in algebra
PRACTICAL EXAMPLE

• The equation of a line is given by

𝑦 = 𝑚𝑥 + 𝑐
Where m is a constant representing the gradient of the line and C is a constant representing the y
intercept.

At this point if a student still doesn’t get it, the system keeps adjusting to lower level mathematics
until the student grasps the concept then it will continue to teach the intended topiv
SO WHAT’S UNIQUE?

• What is unique about Artificial Intelligence is that both the machine and the student learn
from each other. No student will be left behind struggling!
