Real time direct and indirect burning issues: Coal, Lignite & Biomass-
- Inefficient combustion in general, causing loss of ignition, fouling and dry flue gas loss. Fuel loss.
- Chemical moisture present in fuel disturbing the flame geometry and causing sensible & latent heat loss.
- The reducing atmosphere accentuated in the presence of heavy metals oxides in ash, causing slagging in
boilers and hard accretion in kilns.
- Improper air utilization (inefficient hydrocarbon reaction) in primary combustion zone, resulting in
available oxygen causing higher oxides of Vanadium (V2O5 scales catalyzing SO3 cold end corrosion) and
excess NOx formation in the exhaust.

What is THERMACT ?
THERMACT is a fire side Combustion Catalyst developed to aid burning issues associated with carbon
based fuels, aiming at reducing the Specific Fuel Consumption and reducing Emissions parallelly.

Dosing System of THERMACT

 THERMACT dozing is usually done via 1 or 2 positive displacement screw feeders in the fire side
zone as depicted in the schematic given below.
 Dosing is done at Both Calciner Side and Kiln side simultaneously, in case of Cement Rotary Kiln.
In case of Power Plant boilers, dosing is preferably done via one of the inspection windows at the
burner elevation.
 The dosing equipment is easy to install and can be put up without taking any shutdown.

Dosage : 1 kg of THERMACT is added to 7-10 tons of Solid fuel

Working Principle of THERMACT

Organic catalyst(s) work in the following ways (supported by pictures below):

- Improved reaction rates, on account of reduced activation energy. This results in better oxygen-hydrocarbon
diffusion:- direct fuel savings due to reduced dry flue gas loss and unburnt losses. Indirectly, lesser
probability of higher oxides of Vn and N2 resulting in better furnace and exhaust atmosphere.

- The latent heat loss is reduced; the catalytic effect produces syn-gas (CO+H2) instead of vaporization of H2O
loss, adding further heat value to the system.
