Basic guidelines of IBSE
• Mulakan dengan soalan terbuka atau demonstrasi (jangan mulakan
pengejaran dengan definisi atau penerangan) - Start with an open ended question
or demonstration (do not begin a lesson with definitions or explanations)
• Kumpulkan jawapan dan soalan seterusnya dari pelajar dengan sedikit
komen atau arahan - Gather responses and subsequent questions from students with
little comment or direction
• Memerlukan pelajar untuk bekerjasama merancang eksperimen atau
kaedah penyelidikan - Require students to collaborate on designing experiments or
methods of inquiry
• Pelajar jalankan eksperimen dan mendapatkan data - Students conduct
experiments and gather data.
• Menilai semula soalan berdasarkan data baru dan cuba semula untuk
mengumpulkan data baru berdasarkan soalan yang disemak - Re-evaluate
questions based on new data and re-experiment to collect new data based on revised
question
• Pelajar membentang dapatan dan sediakan laporan - Students present findings
and prepare report.

Important aspects pivotal to IBSE
• Students should be able to recognise that science is more than
memorising and knowing facts.
• Students should have the opportunity to develop new knowledge that
builds on their knowledge and scientific ideas.
• Students will develop new knowledge by restructuring their previous
understanding of scientific concepts and adding new information
learned.
• Learning is influenced by students’ social environment whereby they
have an opportunity to learn from each other.
• Students will take control of their learning.
• The extent to which students are able to learn with deep
understanding will influence how transferable their new knowledge is
to real life contexts.
