ARTICLES AND PREPOSITIONS
I. ARTICLES

A, an, the (Articles) is a word that is used


to limit the meaning of the noun (a noun). Article
is divided into two kinds, namely: Definite and
Indefinite. There is also zero article, which
means no word article of clothing.
DEFINITE ARTICLE

The is a word used clothing on the definite article.


The terms used in the specific (or have been clearly
explained previously) include: person (people), a
thing (object), or idea (thought). It is used before
countable noun (nouns can be calculated) or
uncountable noun (nouns that can not be
calculated).
THE EXAMPLE OF DEFINITE
ARTICLE

 There’s a nurse in front of the hospital.


 The place that I just visited is cozy. (Tempat
yang baru saya kunjungi sangat nyaman.)
INDEFINITE ARTICLES

A or an is used in the indefinite articles.


The word is used in clothing that are not specific
or have not been described previously, including:
person (people), a thing (object), or idea
(thought).
This word is only used before singular
countable noun (nouns can be counted single).
THE EXAMPLE OF INDEFINITE
ARTICLE:

1. i’am an nursing teacher.


2. I saw an elephant this morning.
3. UNAND is a university in west sumatera.
4. Etc.
ZERO ARTICLES WITHOUT A,
AN , AND THE.
Zero means no article (a, an, the) that need to be
used against a noun (noun).
Some kinds of noun that does not or can not use the
article (without a, an, the), among others, are the
names of languages, sports, academic subjects, etc..
THE EXAMPLE OF ZERO ARTICLE:

 Can you speak Japanese? (Dapatkah kamu


bicara bahasa Jepang?)
 That children played football. (Anak-anak itu
bermain bola.)
II. PREPOSITIONS
Prepositions are word used to show time,
position, and direction. Preposition are placed
before, nouns and pronouns.
 The example of Prepositional Phrase:

-under the bridge


-at campus
-because of you
-beside the patient , etc.
