● Green roof- Hero's green roof helps to conserve energy by moderating the temperature on the
roof and within surrounding areas.

● Sewage treatment -Hero ensures that sewage is biologically treated to attain efficacy. This
treatment plant is designed to accommodate up to 6 hours of holding and ensuring effluent is
100% treated and recycled into soft water that is used in cooling towers.

● Rain water Harvesting - All the plants are equipped with efficient rain water harvesting system
which captures the rain water runoff and recharged into the aquifer thereby improving the ground
water levels with total rain water.

● Energy Conservation-100% LED lights are installed in all their latest plants and 40% of the
conventional lights of existing plants have changed to LED. Small capacity Centrifugal
compressor have been installedat Dharuhera Plant replacing screw type compressors resulting
in energy reduction by 33%

Impact on Key Stakeholders
● Hamari Pari program started with just about 15,000 girls
from marginalised background and has helped over
1,20,000 girls.
● Happy Earth Initiative has scaled rapidly and has managed
to bring more than 10,00,000 sq.ft. of land under green
cover.
● RSI has contributed towards increase in the number of
Student Police Cadet who are not only ambassadors of
road safety but also future leaders.
● Dedicated health vans have been introduced to reach
people in remote areas. Also, frequency of eye care and
health care camp has been increasing steadily.
RECOMMENDATIONS
Widen Scope to improve sanitation and hygiene of girl child

At present, in India only 12% of girls use sanitary pads, others use cloth, cotton wool and ash. Also, one in
five girls drop out due to lack of access to clean toilets and basic menstrual hygiene

Expand Green Drives and Planathons to more regions

Hero MotoCorp’s Happy Earth initiates are restricted mostly to Delhi and NCR region. Hero MotoCorp
should try to expand their CSR activities to other parts of India
RECOMMENDATIONS
Do campaigns and create awareness about driving under influence

As per a recent survey 56% of Delhi-NCR cabbies admit to driving passengers DRUNK. About 65%
accidents on Indian Highway are due to driving under influence

Provide infrastructure to digitize Government Schools in rural areas

The government schools in India, over the past years, have all but developed a good reputation. The
common complaints range from inadequate facilities including access to computers and digital technology
to the quality of teachers present, among others.
Key Learnings
● Girls are the true assets of a nation. Any society will take pride in sincere and
selfless efforts for their education and empowerment.
● Transportation is the key to economic growth. Safe and sound road network
with proper education of traffic rules would not only benefit economy but also
saves thousands of life yearly.
● Tree plantation is integral to the environment management plan of the
company and maintenance of ecological balance and a perfect environment
should be of utmost importance.
● Education is the basis of empowerment – not only for the individual but the
society & economy at large.
