Correcting Charts
• Step One
–Using Section II, cross reference
with Ships’ Chart correction Log,
identify which charts need to be
corrected.
–Pull out Tracings and note Folio &
Consec. Number on the Tracing.
–Sort Tracings into Folio groups.
• Step Two
– Remove charts needing correction.
– Individually check that the LAST
correction has been done.
– With tracing in Consec. Order, correct the
charts as required.
– Cut out and glue on Blocks as directed on
the Tracing.
– Write Correction number at foot of chart
and in Chart Correction Log.
• Step Three
– T’s & P’s
• Cut out and paste in a file.
• File should be sorted by Folio.
• Pull out chart affected.
• In PENCIL write the correction number on
the face of the chart.
• Write the T/P number in the Chart
Correction Log.
• When the chart is to be used, refer to the
file and make the full correction in PENCIL.
• Step Four
–Withdrawn Charts removed from
Bridge and defaced.
–Tracing & NtM stored for a period
as determined by SMS.

How to check that a chart is corrected
up to date.
• Refer to the ‘Cumulative List of Admiralty
NtM.
• Look up the Chart number.
• Compare the corrections listed against
those on the chart.
• If any missing then get them out and
correct.
