SECTION 1: Title: Philippine Medical Technology act of 1969 1
DEFINITION OF TERMS
1. Medical Technology • Branch of laboratory medicine which deals w/
examination by various chemical , microscopic,

bacteriologic and other medical laboratory procedures or
technique which will aid the physician in the diagnosis,
study and treatment of disease and in promotion of health
in general
2. Pathologist • Register physician especially trained in methods of
2 laboratory medicine, of gross and microscopic study and
interpretation of tissues
3. Medical technologist • A person engages in the work of medical technology under
supervision of pathologist or licensed physician.
• Must be passed for Liscensure exam and bachelor degree
of BSMT/BSH
4. Medical Technician • Person who not being graduate for BSMT/BSH but passed
in Civil service exam, can performs the work of MT
• Under supervision of RMT or Pathologist.
5. Accredited Medical Technology Training • Clinical lab, agency, clinic, hospital duly
Laboratory approved by the department of Health or its
authorized agency.
6. Recognized School of Medical Technology • Any school, college or university offers BSMT
approved by DepEd (CHED)
7. Council • Council of Medical technology education

8. Board • Board exam of Medical technology established
under this act.
SECTION 3: COUNCIL OF MEDICAL TECHNOLOGY
EDUCATION , ITS COMPOSITION
The Council is composed of:
1. Chairman- secretary of education or Director of Private Education.
1. The two board member of medical technology must be a dean of the institute of hygiene of the
university of the Philippines.

2. Any dean representative or heads of private schools of medical technology
6. Draft rules and regulations as may be necessary to carry out the provision.
SEC 12: REMOVAL OF BOARD MEMBERS
Any member of the board may be removed by the president of the Philippines for
neglect of duty, incompentency, malpractice or unprofessional, unethical, immoral or
dishonorable conduct
The president shall have the power to suspend member under investigation and
appoint a temporary member in his place 12
SEC 13: ACCREDITATION OF SCHOOL OF MT AND
TRAINING LAB
oThe department of education shall approved any schools of medical technology in
accordance the provision of this act.
oDOH- shall upon the recommendations of the council of medical technology
education for laboratories for accreditation as training for BSMT students.
SEC 14: INHIBITION AGAINST THE PRACTICE OF
MT
No person shall practice or offer to practice medical technology withouth having
obtained valid certificate of registration from the board provided that registration
shall not required of the following:
1. Registered physician
2. Medical technologist from other country called for consultation or as visiting or
exchange professors to colleges or universities
3. Medical technologist in the service of united states armed forces stationed in
Philippines.
SEC 15: EXAMINATION
All applicants for registration as MT shall required to undergo board exam.
1. Examination is composed of written exam 15
2. Board shall be given every six months every month of march and September.
3. Result of examination will published least 3 news paper and 3 working days
board result at PRC website or any accredited websites.
SEC16: QUALIFICATION OF EXAM
1. Good health and good moral character
2. Has completed the course of BSMT for at least 4 years curriculum
3. Other paramedical professions who are actually performing medical technology
for the last 5 year prior to act.
SEC 17: SCOPE OF COVERAGE & EXAM
oClinical chemistry 20%

oBlood Banking & Serology 20%

oHistopath, Lab management, MT laws and Bioethics 10%
