What we have What we had Next Project

got from the done these
factory visit two weeks

Some advices we’ve got

1. The strand need to be tested in small laboratory for effectiveness

Response: Due to the nature of our design, we will first assume that
our strain has the highest possible yield.

2. One batch usually has to be carried for 5 to 7 days.

Response: If so, we will set our number of batches as 50 per year. One
batches will produce approximately 2 kg or insulin.

Batch 3 Batch 2 Batch 1 finished

Week 1 2 3

3. E. coli need to be constantly be aerated with oxygen and be

monitored closely for its cell density
Response: We had managed to calculate the theoretical oxygen needs
for E. coli, we will show them in the final paper. 3

Tank Turnover is a measure of how

effective a mixer’s pumping rate
is relative to turning a batch over
a particular number of times a
minute

i.e. Vol of one tank: 30 m3

TOR: 5
Mixer pumping rate: 600 m3/min 7
What we will do this week

1. We will try to try designing our Process in ASPEN this

Thursday.

2. We will give our data to be given to Group III for

economic Analyses.
