‫‪HADEETH # 3‬‬
‫‪Book: Arba’een An Nawawi‬‬
THERE ARE FIVE BASIC PILLARS OF
DEEN:
1.TAUHEED
2.SALAH
3.ZAKAH
4.HAJJ
5.FASTING IN THE MONTH OF
RAMADAN
The word used in hadeeth is َ‫بني‬which is also used for making a building.
In this sense this hadeeth could also be translated as :

The base or the basic pillars of the building of our deen,our islam,are
tauheed,salah,zakah,hajj,fasts of Ramadan,these are the foundations of our
deen.

=>The strength and stability of a building is dependend upon strength of its

base and its foundation.
We should work and keep working on strengthening ourselves on these five
basic pillars and as parents its our responsibility that we introduce and teach
them to our kids aswell.
1.Tauheed = > ‫ال الہ اال ہللا محمد رسول ہللا‬

☝Not just saying it by tongue but believing it by the depth of our hearts.

‫>=ال الہ اال ہللا‬There is no God excepAllahswt

=> Allahswt is the Only One in whose Hands is the Power of my benefit,my loss,my
happiness,my sadness,my rizq,accepting my duaas,removing my difficulties,to
give hidayah,to give life,to give death etc Heswt has total and complete power
over everything.Heswt is the Creator and nourisher of each and everything.
=>Everthing must remind us of Allahswt.

=>No one has right over me as Allahswt,so our level of relationship with Allahswt,
trust on Him,love for Him must be more than we have with anyone else.
‫>=محمد رسول اهلل‬Mohammad peace be upon
him is the messenger of Allahswt

=> Allahswt sent many anbiya and messengers at different times in order to guide
human beings,and Mohammad SAW is the last messenger of Allahswt,HisSAW
teachings are to be followed till the end,there will be no more prophet or
messengers coming till qiyamah.

👉Its very important that we make our kids,our future generations, strong in this
believe,because in the past or we may find such people in future,standing up
and claiming prophethood,and misguiding people,so we and our kids must know
it firmly that there is no chance at all of Allahswt sending prophets anymore, and
people claiming such things are 100% liers, they are nothing but a fitna for
us,whatever proves they give.
2.Salah

=>Allahswt has ordered and emphasized salah uncountable times in Quran.

‫ذ ْك ُر‬ ِ َ‫ر ۗ َول‬ َ ‫م ْن‬
ِ ‫ك‬ ُ ‫ال‬ َ ‫ح‬ْ ‫ف‬َ ‫ال‬ ِ َ ‫ى‬ ٰ ‫الص ََل َة تَ ْن َه‬
َّ ‫ن‬ ِ َّ ِ ِ‫الكِ َتابِ َوأق‬
‫م‬ َ ‫م‬ َ ‫ي إِلَ ْي‬
ِ ‫ك‬ َ ‫ح‬
ِ ‫ما أو‬ ‫اتل‬
َ ‫ع‬
‫ون‬ ُ ‫ص َن‬ْ َ‫ما ت‬ َ ‫م‬ ُ َ‫َّللا يَ ْعل‬ َ
ُ َّ ‫َّللا أ ْكبَ ُر ۗ َو‬
ِ َّ

[Surat Al-Ankabut 45]

Recite from this Book (Al-Quran) which has been revealed to you and establish
Salah (Islamic prayers). Surely Salah keeps one away from shameful and evil deeds;
and surely the remembrance of Allah (during y
our prayers and Allahswt mention of your name in response to your prayers) is the
greatest of all deeds, Allah knows what you do.
A hadīth of the Holy Prophet :‫ﷺ‬

ْ ‫ه‬ َّ ْ ‫ك‬
ِ‫م ب‬ ُ ‫د‬َ ‫م ُروا أَ ْو َال‬
ُ « :‫م‬ َ َّ‫سل‬ ِ ‫علَ ْي‬
َ ‫ه َو‬ َ ‫ہللا‬
ُ ‫صلَّى‬ ِ َّ ‫ل‬
َ ‫َّللا‬ ُ ‫سو‬ ُ ‫ل َر‬ َ
َ ‫قا‬
»ِ‫ِع‬ َ ‫م‬
ِ ‫َا‬ َ ‫ال‬ ْ ‫م فِي‬ ْ ‫ر ُقوا بَ ْي َن ُه‬
ِ ‫ف‬َ ‫ر َو‬ ٍ ‫ش‬ ْ ‫ع‬َ ‫م أَ ْب َنا ُء‬ْ ‫ه‬ُ ‫ َو‬،‫علَ ْي َها‬َ ‫م‬ ُ ‫ر ُب‬
ْ ‫وه‬ ْ ‫ َوا‬،‫ين‬
ِ ‫ض‬ َ ِ‫سن‬ِ

The Messenger of Allah ( )‫ﷺ‬said: Command your children to pray when

they become seven years old, and beat them for it (prayer) when they
become ten years old; and arrange their beds (to sleep) separately.
(Abū Dāwūd, 495, The Book of Prayer; Tirmidhī, 401, The Chapters of Prayer,
with variance in wording and chain of transmission.)
👉For salah the word used in Quran and Hadeeth is ‫اقامةالصَلة‬

=>It means to establish something.

=>We need to pray salah properly,be punctual in it,offering it in

time,making sure that we fulfil all it’s conditions and requirements.We offer
it happily and with focus and concentration.
3. Paying the Zakaah (Obligatory Charity)

The third pillar of Islam is foundational. Allah (swt) describes the believers in
Surah Al-Mu’minun as those who observe and establish the institution of
Zakaah in society:
“And they who are observant of Zakah.” (The Quran 23:4)
Allah has made it obligatory on the Muslims to pay a certain percentage ,
2.5%, in Zakaah when their wealth exceeds a minimum amount and a year has
passed since that amount has been accumulated. It could be gold, silver, or
any sort of wealth.
4. Making Pilgrimage to the House of Allah (Hajj)

Hajj is to make pilgrimage to the house of Allah, the Kabah, in Mecca to perform
the traditional rights that were performed by the Prophet (pbuh).

If we have isteta’at.Its fard once in a life time.

Hajj is one of the most beautiful human experiences and one of the greatest
migrations on earth. It is absolutely incredible to experience the unity of millions
of Muslims making pilgrimage to the Kaaba from every corner of the world.
5. Fasting the Month of Ramadan

“Oh you who believe, fasting is prescribed upon you, as it was prescribed to
those before you, that you may attain God-consciousness (taqwa)” (The
Quran 2:183)

Every year we see the blessings of Ramadan with our eyes.

This one monthof fasting has uncountable benefits,it trains us for
worship,for patience,for thankfulness,forbearance,feeling the pain of poor
and hungry people etc.
