WHAT IS A MALWARE?
Malware is a computer software that disrupts, damages or gains
unauthorized access to computer system.

WHAT IS A VIRUS?
Computer virus is a small software program that spreads from one
computer to another and that interferes with computer operation.

WHAT IT DOES?
 Attaches itself to an .exe file.

 Requires human action to spread.

VIRUS TYPES :
1. COMPILED VIRUS
-- Boot Sector Virus , File Infector Virus , Multipartite Virus

2. INTERPRETED VIRUS
---Macro Virus , Script Virus
TROJAN HORSE
WHAT IS A TROJAN HORSE?
A program that appears to have a useful function but that contains a hidden
function that presents a security risk.

WHAT IT DOES?

 Appears useful but damages system.

Requires human interaction.

 Does not self-replicate.


Ex: SubSeven Trojan Horse

WHAT IS A WORMS?
A worm is similar to a virus by design and is considered to be a
subclass of virus.

WHAT IT DOES?
 Can replicate itself on a system.
Does not require human action to
spread.

BLENDED ATTACKS
WHAT IS A BLENDED ATTACKS?
Blended Attack is a software exploit which in turn involves a combinations
of attacks against different vulnerabilities.

 Bundles aspects of viruses, worms,


Trojan horses and other kind of
malware into one single thread.
MALICIOUS MOBILE CODE
WHAT IS A MALICIOUS MOBILE CODE?
Malicious mobile code is application that move from one network to
network, in order to intentionally modify system.

WHAT IT DOES?
 It performs malicious operations
such as unauthorized data access or
root compromise.
