 This TOI will cover the following new features in the SL150 2.50
code release:

 SDP2 Automatic Log Retrieval

With the 2.50 code release for the SL150, SDP2 will now be able
to automatically retrieve a service bundle from the SL150.
• This requires SDP2 2.3 or higher
• You must enable and configure the feature from the Web GUI
of the SL150
Note: You have to “Enable” the feature and then configure a
SNMP trap recipient and trap levels for ASR traps

 Customer E-mail Alerts (SMTP)

With the 2.50 code release customers can now configure the
SL150 to send them e-mail alerts over IPv4 networks.
This feature gives our customers the ability to do the following:
• Receive an e-mail alert on Health Status and Library State
changes on their SL150 library
• Configure multiple e-mail recipients
• Configure non-secure or secure TLS or SSL encryption for
these alerts. (Recommend TLS)
• Access their SL150 directly from a link given in the body of
these alert e-mails
• Send a test e-mail to verify their e-mail alert configuration

Note: At this time this feature only supports an IP address

entry for the “SMTP Host Address” and not a host name.
TLS should be used where possible for security reasons. It
is recommended that a fully qualified “From Email”
address is used. An example would be: alert@tape-
sl150a.us.oracle.com

 IBM LTO6 Half Height Support

The SL150 2.50 code will add support for the IBM LTO6 Half
Height tape drives.
• This allows us to offer two different tape drive supplier
options in the SL150
• Initial IBM LTO6 Half Height release code will be E6RF
• Both SAS2 and 8Gb FC drives are supported
• OKM encryption will not be supported partly due to space
constraints in the drive tray for the Belisarius card
• The drives do have the “Service” Ethernet port
• The firmware file for the drives is large so it will take much
longer for the IBM LTO drive upgrade from the Web GUI
than HP. (approximately 20 minutes per IBM drive).

 Auto Cleaning Support

With the 2.50 code release the SL150 now allows our customers
to configure Auto Cleaning to clean their HP and IBM LTO
drives.
• Requires that a universal cleaning tape with a “CLNUxxCU”
label be placed into a reserved slot
• If used, the backup application needs to have their auto
cleaning feature disabled
• The library will perform the cleaning on the drive after the
library has internally received a tape alert from the drive. The
cleaning notification occurs at the time when the data tape in
use is unloaded. Cleaning will begin after the tape drive is
empty and idle.

 EOL Hardware Replacements
The 2.50 code release will support the paired controller cards,
NUC and KLP, which are replacements for the EOL controller
cards, ITX and KLC, that are no longer orderable.
• The INTEL NUC card is the main processor card on the SL150
robot and the KLP card connects to it. It is an intel based
motherboard and it is the replacement for the INTEL mini-ITX
main control card that has been on every robot up to this
point.
• The KLP card is the main controller card on the robot and it
replaces the KLC card that has been on every robot up to this
point.
• NUC and KLP cards are not to be inter-mixed with ITX and
KLC cards. The new card set are required to paired as are the
old card set.
• The Robot CRU will not be noted as ITX or NUC based within
the UI.

 Robot Lock Engagement
With the 2.50 code release the SL150 will detect if the rotary
robot lock is fully engaged before it will allow the power down to
continue.
• Helps the robot to be fully locked consistently
• Saves the robots from being damaged during shipping
Note: A silkscreen change for better rotary lock alignment is
being looked into

 Tape Drive Encryption Status
The 2.50 code release now shows the Encryption status of the
tape drives in the SL150 library.
• When the drive has a tape loaded in it and the drive is
encrypting or decrypting on that tape the Web GUI will show
an “Encrypting” status for the drive.
• When the drive is empty or has a non encrypted tape loaded
in it the Web GUI will show an “Not Encrypting” status for the
drive.
• Even though IBM drives won’t have OKM encryption the Web
GUI will still show the encryption status of the drive because
it could be using data path encryption controlled by the
backup application.

 SL-Series Library Common MIB
With the 2.50 code release the SL150 will now have a SNMP MIB
that is common with the other SL-series libraries.
• The SL150 SNMP MIB has been updated to contain common
features and parameters used in the current Oracle Tape
Libraries
• There have been some STA specific fields have been added to
the MIB
• There have been some enterprise library specific fields have
been added to the MIB
• You can download the SNMP MIB from the SL150 via the Web
GUI under the main SNMP menu

 Tape Drive Firmware Levels

Note: Oracle tape drive firmware patch release system change

starting with HP LTO -6hh FC: 258S and HP LTO-6hh SAS: 358S.
The PatchID will no longer dash roll, the PatchID will now be the
Oracle Corporation BugDB number that directly correlates to
each request or release.

 2.50 Firmware Fixes

The 2.50 code release contains the following fixes:

• The health codes that callout a specific module have been
updated to read Module 1 (for the base module) and Module 2
(for the 1st expansion module). This will help to clear up
confusion on which module the failure occurred on and if a
replacement is needed which module should be replaced.
• The actions for the 9135 fault code have been reworded to
“Check for robot motion/obstructions. Verify robot latch is
unlocked. Check base module locate sensor. Inspect/replace
base module chassis or robot“. This will help our customers
to hopefully do some troubleshooting up front before
replacing hardware that might not need to be replaced and
could cause further more serious issues.

 2.50 Firmware Fixes cont.
• A new fault code 9093 has been added for a serial number
mismatch. The serial number mismatch is caused when any
2 of the 3 mirrored S/N parts (Robot, Base Module Chassis,
and OP Panel) are replaced at the same time during a
successful power up. In the past this has caused either a
9081 fault code (pre-2.25 code) or a 9999 fault code (2.25
code). So it wasn’t clear what the issue was until you looked
into the SL150 logs.
• Fault Code 9043 is no longer displayed when the library is
rebooted with a USB cable disconnected. One of the new fault
codes specific to the module that is no longer connected is
displayed with the correct component list and
recommendations

 2.50 Firmware Fixes cont.
• A fix was put in for wavy lines that were seen with the new
Display Tech OP Panel
• A fix was put in for the SL150 reporting false Power Supply
faults with a fault code of 9003
• A fix was put in place for the inability to use the Web GUI and
Local OP Panel if the USB cable to a KLE controller card is
disconnected.
• You can generate and retrieve the service bundle from the
SL150 as long as you can get into the Web GUI. There were
failures before on the SL150 where you could get into the
Web GUI but you weren’t able to access the “Service” tab and
thus couldn’t generate or retrieve a service bundle. With 2.50
as long as you can get into the Web GUI the “Service” tab
should be available and thus the ability to generate and
retrieve a service bundle from the SL150.
