going to learn now.
 Before conducting Research, you must qualify
for doing Research- You must absorb the qualities
of a Researcher.

QUALITIES OF A GOOD RESEARCHER DAKG

1. In Social Science including Social Work, most of the time


research is done for vulnerable and oppressed groups.
Therefore it is very important that you have a sense of respect
for them. Learn to Respect People (subjects).
2. Free yourself from biasness.
3.Be a good reader. Read lot of relevant literature related to your
research interest topic.
4. Have a good understanding of Research Methodology.
5.Question everything, reason everything, but do not impose
your ideas.
6. Accept and present the fact as it is. Do not copy or
manipulate.
7. Discuss your project with learned people from the same field.

Step 1
Casual Observation of the Phenomenon/Event
For selecting a Research Problem

1. Select a topic which is appropriate for scientific


inquiry.
2. It is not difficult, the social world around us is
full of unanswered questions.
3. Creative observation is necessary to select a
problem. (Do problem tree analysis)
4. Read different newspapers daily, it will sharpen
your observation skill.
5. Since you are a Social Worker, think whether
situation can be changed by using Social Work
method.
6. Do not arrive at your own conclusion.
7. Repeatedly evaluate your observation.

DEFINING THE RESEARCH PROBLEM

1. Once the research problem is identified,


define the Research topic.
2. Your topic should be clearly understood
by others.
3. Impact of Wages on Employee
Satisfaction.
4. Impact of Reliance Jio’s Scheme on the
Customers’ Phone Usage in selected
colleges in Delhi.
5. Role of industrial counselling in
preventing absenteeism among blue
collar workers: Study with reference to
Liberty, Delhi

REVIEW OF LITRATURE
1. ROL is next level of planning in a research project.
2. Some literature talks about origin of the problem, some
are concerned with effects and consequences of the
problem.
3. Other deal with impact of social programmes .
4. Gather relevant findings.
5. Summaries them in such a way that others may find it
easy and interesting to read.
6. Read plenty of published research articles.
7. Make it condensed and relate it with research
questions.

IDENTIFICATION OF THE
OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY
1. Once the problem and the theoretical
background of the problem is prepared,
its time to address the aims and
objectives of the study.
2. Make it short and clear.

FORMULATION OF HYPOTHESIS
1. Research Strategy is to move from a
general research theory to a specific
research problem. (Known to unknown)
2. Hypothesis state what we expect to find
rather than what has already known.
3. H1(Working Hypothesis) “Higher Wages
lead to Higher Job Satisfaction”.
4. Ho (Null Hypothesis) “There is no
relationship between Wages and Job
Satisfaction”.

5. Action research
6. Single subject design research
7. You must select one and combined
research design for your research.
