ENERGY RESOURCES

Solar Energy
 It is free and exhaustible.
 is radiant light and heat from the Sun that is
harnessed using a range of ever-evolving
technologies such as solar heating,
photovoltaics, solar thermal energy, solar
architecture, molten salt power plants and
artificial photosynthesis.
 Wind energy is a form of solar energy.[1]
Wind energy (or wind power) describes the
process by which wind is used to generate
electricity
Geothermal energy

The Philippines ranked second to the United States in

terms of geothermal energy deposits
Geothermal Energy
 It is the heat from the Earth. It's clean and
sustainable.
 Resources of geothermal energy range
from the shallow ground to hot water
and hot rock found a few miles beneath
the Earth's surface, and down even
deeper to the extremely high
temperatures of molten rock called
magma.
Hydropower Energy
• Flowing water creates energy that can be captured
and turned into electricity. This is called hydroelectric
power or hydropower.
• The most common type of hydroelectric power plant
uses a dam on a river to store water in a reservoir.
Water released from the reservoir flows through a
turbine, spinning it, which in turn activates a
generator to produce electricity. But hydroelectric
power doesn't necessarily require a large dam. Some
hydroelectric power plants just use a small canal to
channel the river water through a turbine.
They provide for 27% of total electricity
production in the country. Ambuklao in
Benguet, Mt. Province, in Lanao del Sur and
in Lanao del Norte are large hydroelectric
power plants
Natural Gas
• It is a form of fossil fuel, so are coal and crude
oil (sometimes called petroleum).
• Fossil fuels were formed from plants an
animals that lived on Earth million of years
ago.
• Natural gas and oil are taken from the deep
through oil rigs while coal is extracted
through mining.
• Fossil fuels are used to produce electricity and
run vehicles and factory machines
Coal
 It is a black or brownish black, solid rock
that can be burned.
Natural Gas
 It is considered clean fuel because when
burned, it produces the least carbon
dioxide, among fossil fuels.
Types of NATURAL RESOURCES
 Renewable resources - are those that are
constantly available (like water) or can be
reasonably replaced or recovered, like
vegetative lands. Animals are also
renewable because with a bit of care, they
can reproduce offspring to replace adult
animals. Even though some renewable
resources can be replaced, they may take
many years and that does not make them
renewable.
Non - Renewable
• Non-renewable resources are those that
cannot easily be replaced once they are
destroyed.
• Examples include fossil fuels. Minerals
are also non-renewable because even
though they form naturally in a process
called the rock cycle, it can take
thousands of years, making it non-
renewable.
