5.1. Chosen innovation case name

3-D printers
1.1. Case description:

this case talks about the construction of houses for very poor families,
New Story is a foundation which is responsible for reducing poverty levels
building houses for poor families, building a house takes a long time, but
this foundation is implementing a new system to build them by means of
3D prints which is able to build it in a day, this is a great advantage since
many houses can be built, with elastic materials and with a waste of almost
zero, with this idea it will be possible to reduce costs in the construction of
these houses in a traditional way.
1.2. Tecnology description

uses a portable printer called Vulcan, uses state-of-the-art materials that provide sustainable
solutions. Through advanced robotics and cutting-edge materials, the concrete that is used has a
continuous thermal envelope, a high thermal mass (to achieve more comfort and energy efficiency)
and replaces multiple home systems in a single technology (foundations, structure , insulation,
interior and exterior cladding, moisture barrier, finished surfaces, etc.
1.3. How can this kind of technology be protected in Colombia, by copyrights or by
patents?

can be protected by patent, since it is an invention and this is part of the

intellectual property since it has to do with information or knowledge that can be
incorporated into tangible objects, of which an unlimited number of copies can be
made in all the places of the world, in this case of 3D printers for the manufacture
of houses.
1.4 Make a timeline describing what to do to carry out a negotiation of the selected technology,
make sure you include the concepts studied previously, describing negotiation and its
preparation What is important to take into account to value and negotiate this kind of
innovations?.
1.5 Why is it recommended to use real options despite other methods to value software and
new technologies projects?
1.6 Describe the type of option you would apply for the selected innovation
case.

the most appropriate would be to unite the figure of expand / contract in this
way the valuation is done and you can start with the investment whit a small
pilot project to have all the money from the beginning. In the future it is
evaluated if the project is giving better results than expected, it could be
expanded, and if the results are not good it is reduced.
1.7 Draw a picture evidencing the relation between the case and the poverty eradication
problem.
1.8 Compare your answer to the previous question (1.8) with the one you
give to the same question on Step 1, make conclusions of how the
contents studied along the course prepares a professional to face
technology negotiations?

in step 1, I did not have the sufficient bases to give clear foundations on the
steps and tools to be used to achieve the eradication of poverty through the
chosen project, with this course we learned about the different types of
negotiation that exist, how to take care of copyright, intellectual property and
most importantly learn to use it to help others, all this in order to have different
tools when undertaking a business, or project always with the help of
technology that although today in It has changed the way in which it interacts,
and knowing how to use it in an adequate way helps many people by
simplifying jobs and costs.
CONCLUSIONS

The technological assessment currently provides the

possibility for organizations to evaluate the knowledge
used in the production, distribution and use of goods
and services, in order to adapt and anticipate changes
in the market, implementing technologies that are
environmentally friendly and investing in R & D, to gain
competitive advantage against its rivals who still do not
see sustainability as a link in technology management,
nor as one of its business objectives, but as part of
corporate social responsibility.
