• Established to care for young offenders.


• The name was adopted upon its official opening by Sir Henry
Gurney on May 15, 1950.
• The programmes run by Henry Gurney are rehabilitative
in nature:
-Orientation
-strengthening self-personality
-vocational training
-pre-free programme

INTEGRITY SCHOOL

• Located within prison is academically-oriented for (SPM)


• Founded in April, 2008 partnership between the Education
Ministry and the Malaysian Prison Department.
Student enrolment does not depend on age but on academic
abilities
• Integrity school prepares students for the (SPM) and skills
training to the vocationally-inclined.
• The schools only cater to arts stream students as they do not
have the facilities for science laboratories.

Discipline Building Programme
Main objective :produce inmate who are
discipline and abide by all the regulations, active
and practice a healthy way of life.
Implemented for three months
Character Reinforcement Programme
• is the core treatment
• Implemented between 6 and 12 months.
• Focus on the development of self-identity and
positive attitudes
Skills Programme
• Objective: to produce inmates who are skilled
and possess certificate as well as those who
excel in sports.
Community Programme
Objective: prepare the inmates to face the
stigma attached after they are released and to
encourage public participation
DIGITAL LITERACY

• Collaboration between the Prisons Department of Malaysia


and Microsoft Malaysia
• Three-year programme that includes digital literacy and
upskilling opportunities in the areas of digital inclusion,
entrepreneurship and capacity-building.
• Inmates from the prison schools will be trained to use basic
computer programmes such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint
and Excel
