MC 2008-102 dated 7 June 2008 re: the Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentives Awards Enhanced Criteria and Guidelines LEGAL BASIS •Local Government Code of 1991 (RA 7160), Section 406(b): DILG to provide a system of granting economic and other incentives to Lupong Tagapamayapa for their outstanding contributions to attainment the objectives of the Katarungang Pambarangay. LUPONG TAGAPAMAYAPA INCENTIVES AWARDS (LTIA) The LTIA is a system of granting economic benefits and other incentives to Lupong Tagapamayapa for their exemplary performance in settling disputes within their community. This is in recognition of the Lupon’s contribution in the promotion of the Katarungang Pambarangay (KP) as an indigenous mediation structure capable of resolving disputes within a community, and beyond the formal courts of justice. AWARDS OBJECTIVES • Strengthen the Katarungang Pambarangay (KP) as an indigenous conflict resolution structure at the grassroots level
• Institutionalize a system of granting economic benefits and
other incentives to Lupong Tagapamayapa, which demonstrate exemplary performance; and
• Generate greater awareness among, and support from, the
various sectors of Philippine Society on the KP as a potent vehicle towards social ordering and human development LTIA AWARDS GUIDELINES
