Venflon Monitoring system

Abstract
• In recent years, due to the technological improvement many sophisticated techniques has been evolved
for fast recovery of the patients in hospitals.
• All most in all hospital, a nurse is responsible for monitoring the Glucose drip which given to patient. But
unfortunately most of the time, the observer may forget to monitor the Glucose drip at correct time and
non-authorized observer may access due to their busy schedule.
• To overcome this critical situation, an automatic alerting system is proposed by using three important
sensors. The Fingerprint is one of the safest way to detect and identify the authorized person which is used
to send data to the controller.
• In flex sensor, the resistance of it increases as the body of the component bends like wrist. Pressure sensor
is used to indicate the high amount of pressure on drip or removal of drip with unaware. Arduino UNO
board is used as a controller module that process the data received from the sensors. Buzzer module is
used as the output module which used to alert the observer
Introduction
• the population growth increases, the need for health care also increases.
• Monitoring patient’s safety is the top most priority to be given in all
hospitals. If nurses working in hospitals forget to monitoring glucose drip,
it will bring a bad consequences to the patient.
• Many automatic health monitoring devices are developed to ensure
patients safety and to reduce the stress of the doctors.
• Even though many advanced automatic devices are used, ensuring the
safety of the patients during IV periodic still a challenging issue
• The fingerprint sensor and Pressure sensor are interconnected like if
fingerprint access is approved then the pressure sensor’s indication is offer
and if access is denied then buzzer will indicate.
• In some situations, un-authorized observers try to operate the drip with
using the fingerprint access, if then, pressure on the glucose drip will
increase which makes an alert to the doctor/nurse
Literature Survey
1. This paper reports the state of art in a variety of pressure and the detailed study of various matrix based pressure
sensors. The performances of the bridges, buildings, etc. are threatened by earthquakes, material degradations,
and other environmental effects. Structural health monitoring (SHM) is crucial to protect the people and also for
assets planning. This study is a contribution in developing the knowledge about self-sensing smart materials and
structures for the construction industry. It deals with the study of self-sensing as well as mechanical and electrical
properties of different matrices based on pressure sensors. The relationships among the compression, tensile
strain, and crack length with electrical resistance change are also reviewed

2. Flex sensors are sensors that change in resistance depending on the amount of bend on the sensor. They convert
the change in bend to electrical resistance - the more the bend, the more the resistance value. The output from
the sensor is converted to digital and processed by using microcontroller and then it responds in the voice using
speaker.
Hardware Components

 Arduino UNO

 Flex Sensor

 Pressure Sensor
Arduino UNO
• The Arduino UNO is an open-source microcontroller board based on the Microchip
ATmega328P microcontroller

• The board is equipped with sets of digital and analog input/output (I/O) pins that may be
interfaced to various expansion boards (shields) and other circuits

• The board has 14 Digital pins, 6 Analog pins, and programmable with the Arduino IDE
(Integrated Development Environment) via a type B USB cable

• "Uno" means one in Italian and was chosen to mark the release of Arduino Software (IDE)
1.0. The Uno board and version 1.0 of Arduino Software (IDE) were the reference versions
of Arduino, now evolved to newer releases. The Uno board is the first in a series of USB
Arduino boards, and the reference model for the Arduino platform
Flex Sensor
• A flex sensor or bend sensor is a sensor that measures the amount of deflection or
bending.

• Usually, the sensor is stuck to the surface, and resistance of sensor element is varied by
bending the surface.

• The resistance is directly proportional to the amount of bend it is used as goniometer,

and often called flexible potentiometer.

• Flex sensor is used in wide areas of research from computer interfaces, rehabilitation,
security systems and even music interfaces.

• It is also famous among students and Hobbyists.

Pressure Sensor
• A pressure sensor is a device for pressure measurement of gases or liquids. Pressure is an
expression of the force required to stop a fluid from expanding, and is usually stated in
terms of force per unit area.

• A pressure sensor usually acts as a transducer; it generates a signal as a function of the

pressure imposed.

• Pressure sensors are used for control and monitoring in thousands of everyday
applications.

• Pressure sensors can also be used to indirectly measure other variables such as fluid/gas
flow, speed, water level, and altitude. Pressure sensors can alternatively be called
pressure transducers, pressure transmitters, pressure senders, pressure indicators,
piezometers and manometers

Working
• By making alerts to hospital staff, the observer need to manually monitor the glucose
drip and unauthorized access is avoided.

• This is of high advantage to the patients especially during night times. Once this
glucose drip monitoring comes into existence the people taking care of the patients
and their in-charged nurses need not worry about the bending of wrist and
unauthorized removal of glucose drip.

• Thus the people in the hospital need not worry about anything and do their work
without any tension.
Advantages
• User Friendly

• Helpful for physically challenged persons

• Reduce the human activity

• Reduce the physical strain

• Spontaneous Output
DrawBacks
• The patient can't able to understand the analog signal

• Complex system and difficult to operate

Future Scope
• The Design will become Wearable

• If there is an error or misbehave in this

doctor will be automatically notified

• the design will be in anlog signal so

the patient wont understand
