GETTING TO KNOW THE NYD 2019 THEME
 This session aims to help the
participants understand the Scripture
theme of NYD 2019 and to help the
OBJECTIVE participants understand the different
vocation and how these vocations can be a
form of service to others.
 INTRODUCTION
As we journey toward the NYD 2019, it is appropriate
that we reflect and meditate on the theme of this
celebration. The theme, “I am the servant of the Lord. May it
be done to me according to your word” was taken from the
Gospel according to St. Luke (Lk 1:38). This theme was chosen
by Pope Francis as part of the reflection themes from the
words of the Blessed Virgin Mary from World Youth Days of
2017-2019.

 TESTIMONIES
In order to link the message of Pope Francis for World Youth
Day 2019 in Panama and local theme of the Year of the Youth which
is, “Filipino Youth in Mission: Gifted, Beloved, Empowered,” there
will be three testimonies about the real life and experiences of
young people.
YOUCAT 479: What can
we learn from the way in
which Mary prayed?

To learn from Mary how to pray

means to join in her prayer: “Let it
be done to me according to your
word” (Lk 1:38). Prayer is ultimately
self-giving in response to God’s
love. If we way Yes as Mary did,
God has the opportunity to lead
his life in our life.
 Guidelines for the Sharing Activity:

1. After watching, reading and listening to the

messages everyone will be given a chance to
reflect and at the same time to share their
reflections.
SHARE 2. Each group will be given 20 minutes for the
small group sharing.

3. End the sharing by praying the “Hail Mary”

or singing a song in honor of the Blessed
Mother.

struck you the most?

b. Upon listening to the testimonies, what are your

own giftedness, experiences of being loved and
SHARE empowered to make a difference?

c. Like Mary, in what ways are you invited to serve

your fellow youth?

d. As you prepare for the NYD 2019, is there any part

of the message that you consider as significant in
your preparation? Why?
