DEFINITION OF QUANTITATIVE METHODS

Quantitative research methods are research methods dealing with

numbers and anything that is measurable in a systematic way of
investigation of phenomena and their relationships, It is used to
answer questions on relationships within measurable variables with an
intention to explain, predict and control a phenomena (Leedy 1993).

2
The Objective of Quantitative Research Methods
 The objective of the quantitative method is to develop and employ models based on
mathematical approach, hypotheses and theories pertaining to the nature of a
phenomenon. The process of measurement (which we have come across in the
previous topic) is the focus of quantitative method due to its connectivity between
empirical observation and mathematical expression of quantitative relationships.

TYPES OF QUANTITATIVE RESEARCH METHODS
INTERVENTION
RESEARCH
Non
Nonexperimental
interventionResearch:
There are some major experimental
research design
pre-experimental design

4
Pre – Experimental design
• No random assignment
• May be carried out in an intact or existing class
• Many other variables (apart from the independent variable of
interest) could play a role in influencing any findings

One-group Posttest-only Design One-group Pretest-posttest Design

Posttest-only with Non-equivalent Groups

5
True - Experimental design

Comparison Groups: two or more equivalent groups with different conditions

for the purpose of comparison. The group which receives the treatment (i.e.,
interaction activity) is called the experimental group. The group that does not
receive the treatment is called the control group.

Posttest-Only Control-Group Designs Pretest-Posttest Control-Group Designs

6
Quasi – Experimental design
The term ‘quasi’ is Cannot do random assignments in quasi experimental
research. In real life situations, there are intact classes that cannot be
rearranged. Hence, researchers cannot achieve complete control over potential
confounding variables that can be threats to the internal validity of the study.

7
Factorial Design

Experimental designs with more than one independent variable.

The term factor refer to each of manipulated independent variables 2 Factors

8
CORRELATIONAL RESEARCH
The correlation is a statistical tool used to measure the relationship
between two or more variables.

9
Survey Research
Survey research designs are procedures in quantitative research in which investigators
administer a survey to a sample or to the entire population of people to describe the attitudes,
opinions, behaviors, or characteristics of the population

Conclusion
Conclusion Using quantitative
methods and tools in Human Resource
is a great way to use data gathered
through focus groups, surveys,
trend analysis, and casestudies to
ensure a stronger foundation within
your organization through a deeper
understanding of strengths and
weaknesses.
