We’re not talking about the still popular video
codec. DIVX came about in the late 1990s and
was much like RedBox or Netflix’s physical DVD
rental service. Circuit City came up with DIVX as a
service by which one could rent movies on DIVX
discs that could be watched for two days and
then thrown away or recycled. A fee was charged
beyond the two-day viewing time limit.
Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) was released in
1993. One reason the Newton died so fast was the
notable handwriting recognition inaccuracy of the
device.
Even the 90s sci-fi movie are tried to be shown 3d
by fully immersive 3d computer generated imagery
with the help of companies like cleverly-named
virtuality which had released it's "Dactyl Nightmare"
game in VR arcade but it fails to provide real life-
lets face it-type challenge.
Digital audio tape failure was for selling music and
related piracy concerns. The newer format like
mp3 bring even more privacy concerns - thats like
music industry great.
QR Look familiar? That is a QR code, short for
“Quick Response” The problem with QR code is,
nobody knows what the hell to do with them. PR for
the QR was severely lacking.
In late 2001, Apple changed digital music forever with
the launch of the iPod. Microsoft launched its rival,
the Zune, five years later. Despite positive reviews, the
Zune flopped due to its delayed entry, weak
marketing efforts, and lack of support among major
record labels.
The "format wars" between Beta and VHS (see: Sony
and everyone else) are the stuff of tech legend.
Sony's reluctance to license Betamax's technology
and selling it on higher prices results in its failures and
VHS wins.
Microsoft launched Windows Phone 7, its first multi-
touch mobile operating system, in 2010 -- three
years after the first iPhone arrived and two years
after the first Android devices launched. That delay
was costly, since most developers and consumers
were already tethered to the iOS and Android
ecosystems.
Vista was released worldwide on January 30, 2007. It was
created to improve the security of the most widely used
PC operating system in the world. The securities features
were not much better than the previous versions of
Windows based on most reviews of the software. Vista
was also not compatible with a number of older PCs
which limited the number of users who were likely to
upgrade from the earlier version of Windows, known as
XP.
In 2013, Facebook tried to take over Android devices
with Facebook Home, a replacement launcher that let
users quickly view and post content on Facebook,
message other users, and launch apps. The lock screen
also displayed notifications from Facebook and other
apps. Facebook Home was a clear attempt to take
over a mobile OS without actually creating one -- but
the app was skewered by poor reviewed n privacy
concerns.
 Discontinuity from customers.

 Waste of product development time.

 Bad impression in market.

 Waste of product development money.
