INTRODUCTION
Bridgestone Corporation is a multinational auto and truck parts
manufacturer founded in 1931 by Shojiro Ishibashi in the city of
Kurume, Fukuoka, Japan.
Bridgestone Group had 141 production facilities in 24 countries.
Headquarters: Chūō, Tokyo, Japan

QUALITY MANAGEMENT
STRUCTURE
• For its quality assurance structure, the Bridgestone Group has
established the Group Global CQO Organization, comprising the
Global CQO (Chief Quality Officer), together with SBU-CQOs
appointed by SBUs. (Strategic business unit (SBU).

• The CQOs work to promote the Group’s quality policy and


understand quality aspects, and provide appropriate and prompt
responses to quality issues.

QUALITY ASSURANCE THROUGH
THE SUPPLY CHAIN
 QA in Raw material Procurement-
Even after establishing a relationship with suppliers, they
continuously monitor the quality of goods received, conduct
supplier audits, and make other efforts to ensure suppliers are
maintaining their quality assurance structures .

 QA in Outsourcing –
In 2016, they launched an effort to improve the three core
competencies of outsourcing (Detection, Selection, and
Deterrence) with the aim of enhancing outsourcing supplier
management.
 QA in Tire Manufacturing
Bridgestone promotes the “visualization” of potential quality risks at tire
production plants and proactively implements preventive actions. They
continue to evolve early warning system (EWS), improve VOC / VOB
system.

 Human Resource Development in Support of Quality Activities


Establishing Quality Human Resources Development Unit with quality
training programmes for the employees.

 Market Initiatives
• As their tires are driven on roads all over the world, the information is
collected and tire analysis results are promptly shared with related
departments and utilized to improve tire quality.
•When necessary, the actual tire is collected for a detailed analysis,
which is useful for early-stage quality improvements.

TQM CONFERENCE
 Since 2010, the Bridgestone Group has held a Global Total
Quality Management (TQM) Conference each year attended by
Bridgestone and Group companies.
 It aims to enhance the level of quality activities and improve
quality awareness through sharing examples of excellence in
innovation and improvements selected from each region and SBU
with the entire Group.

growth in the society through interventions to improve
healthcare, promote education, generate livelihood
opportunities and support rural development.

1. TIRE SAFETY CAMPAIGN
• The campaign was aimed at educating car users with
importance of tire maintenance for safe journey.
• Customers were imparted with information on tire maintenance
and various tire check-up services.

2. BRIDGESTONE ROAD SAFETY EDUCATION
PROGRAM
• Was launched to inculcate road safety and promote good behavior
in accordance with traffic regulations among the youths in the
school and community who are going to be the new drivers on
road in future.
• Through this program in 2015 BSID reached to more than 6500
high school students from Pune city and going to expand it to new
schools and cities.

3. MAKE ROADS SAFE CAMPAIGN

• Bridgestone India Pvt. Ltd. (BSID) initiated this activity to


strengthen and support administration in improving the road
safety infrastructure by providing heavy crash barricades,
traffic control barricades, light batons, reflective jackets and
search lights.
