History of Linkin Park agregar una imagen
Formed in 1996, Linkin Park rose to international fame with their debut
album Hybrid Theory (2000), their following studio album Meteora(2003)
continued the band's success, topping the Billboard 200 album chart in 2003.
Having adapted a metal and rap metal to a radio-friendly yet densely layered
style in Hybrid Theory and Meteora, the band explored other genres on their
next studio album, Minutes to Midnight (2007). The album topped the
Billboard chart and had the third-best debut week of any album that year.
Linkin Park continued to explore a wider variation of musical types in their
fourth album, A Thousand Suns (2010), layering their music with more
electronic sounds. Their fifth album, Living Things (2012), combines musical
elements from all of their previous records. Their sixth album, The Hunting
Party (2014), returned to a heavier rock sound. Their seventh album One
More Light (2017) was a more electronic and pop-oriented record. In 2014,
the band was declared as the Biggest Rock Band in the World Right Now by
Kerrang! As the best-selling band of the 21st century and one of the world's
best-selling music artists overall, Linkin Park has sold more than 70 million
albums worldwide and has won two Grammy Awards. Linkin Park went into
an indefinite hiatus after longtime lead vocalist Bennington died from suicide
by hanging on July 20, 2017. The other members of the band have yet to
decide whether to continue with a new vocalist.
Main Genres of Linkin Park
Alternative Rock: Is a style of rock music that
emerged from the independent music underground of
the 1980s and became widely popular in the 1990s. In
this instance, the word "alternative" refers to the
genre's distinction from mainstream rock music.
Nu Metal: Is a subgenre of alternative metal that
combines elements of heavy metal music with
elements of other music genres such as hip
hop, alternative rock, funk, industrial, and grunge.
Rap Rock: Is a fusion genre that fuses vocal and
instrumental elements of hip hop with various forms
of rock. Rap rock's most popular subgenres include rap
metal and rapcore, which include heavy metal
and hardcore punk oriented influences, respectively.
What I´ve Done
• What I've Done" is a song by American rock band Linkin Park. It was released as the first single from their third studio
album Minutes to Midnight (2007).
• The song was released as a radio single on April 1, 2007, as a digital download on April 2, and as a CD single on April
30.
• It also serves as the main theme of the 2007 science fiction film Transformers and also appears on Transformers: The
Album (2007).
• The music video for "What I've Done" was filmed in the California desert and was directed by artist Joe Hahn of Linkin
Park. Presents images of the band playing in the desert, interspersed with archive images that reflect a variety of
political, social, environmental and crimes committed by humanity. The video also presents brief descriptions of
important historical figures, such as (in order of appearance) Leonardo da Vinci, Mother Teresa, Robert F. Kennedy,
Mahatma Gandhi, Buddha Gautama, Mao Zedong, Abraham Lincoln, Iosif Stalin, Fidel Castro, Adolf Hitler, Saddam
Hussein and Benito Mussolini. It also shows historical events such as the Second World War, the Vietnam War, the
Cuban Revolution, the Fall of the Twin Towers, the Iraq War and events derived from the Cold War.
Why I have choise THIS SONG
• We chose this song because of the good instrumentals it has, for its
good lyrics and for its excellent music video that deals with
interesting topics and gives a brief overview of the tortuous
twentieth century.
• It is also one of my favorite bands and I wanted to commemorate
also the vocalist Chester Bennington, who committed suicide last
year
THE END
• The teaching of the song and the music video is that we lack many
problems to solve humanity and much of what we see in the video
is still happening.
