ABSTRACT
 Our main aim is to design a smart shopping system based on RFID.
 They can calculate the billing information as the customer finishes the shopping.
 Items that are put in a smart shopping cart can be automatically recognized and billed.
 In this way, customers can avoid long queuing time at the check-out points. The
grocery management also becomes much easier.
 Furthermore, the inventory management also becomes much easier, because all the
items can be automatically read by a RFID reader instead of manually scanned by a
laborer.
 In our Project, we propose a smart shopping cart system with consideration of how
this system can work functionally and securely.

Introduction
 There has been an emerging demand for quick and easy payment of bills in
supermarkets.
 In our project we are designing a Smart Shopping System based on RFID.
 One of the biggest IoT applications is the smart shopping systems that can enable fast
shopping, easy checking out, and efficient store managing.
 Items added into a cart are automatically scanned and the bill is generated in real-time
as the customer shops and store are aware of status of the items and reports to a
central server.
 The central server can alert the store staff about the item status based on demand.
 In our Project each item is assigned with a RFID Tag instead of Barcode.
 These RFID Tags can be low/high Frequency & they can also be short range.
 The customers have to scan the items manually by putting the item close to the reader.
 In our Project the smart shopping cart is equipped with a UHF RFID reader, and a
micro-controller.
Introduction(Contd...)

 Our Project can solve more “Security and

Privacy Issues”.
 Security is handled by measuring the weights
before the payment and the weight after the
payment.
 The reason why we are using UHF RFID
Tags are “the reading range can be upto 10
metres”.

LITERATURE SURVEY
(PROPOSED MODEL)

 Every product in the shop or a mall will have an RFID tag on it.
 Each Cart will have an RFID reader and WSP(wifi) Transreceiver implemented on it.
 They can calculate the billing information as the customer presses the button.
 Items that are put in a smart shopping cart can be automatically recognized and billed.
 The customers are not allowed to leave the store until the payment of all items in the
shopping cart has been made.
 In our Project Security issues can be handled by implementing weight mechanism.
HARDWARE SOFTWARE
REQUIREMENTS : REQUIREMENTS:

 Processor : i3 +  Operating System : Windows 7 or

Higher
 RAM : 4GB
 IDE : Visual Studio 2010
 Hard Disk : 80GB
 Language : C#
 Speed : 1.2 GHz+
 Framework : ASP.NET 4.0

ANALYSIS
 Maintainability: Human resources is not required to maintain the
components and collect the raw data from each of the components.
 Reusability: The components are compatible for changing environment
and supports upgradeability.
 Availability: The system is functional throughout and data transfer takes
place only when user requests.
 Usability: The system is user friendly as it uses a simple networking
model like a ZigBee.
 Reliability: The system is highly consistent and reliable.

DESIGN(CONTD…)
 In our design there will be a home page where admin can login by entering his
username & password.
 Once the admin gets login, there will be admin dashboard, where he can manage
products ,cart products,generate bill etc..
 He can Add the products by entering item name, description ,quantity, unit price ,the
items geo location and the weights that has been added.
 Once the customer selects the product it will be added into the cart.
 As soon as product is added to the cart the status of the product will be in pending
state untill customer pays the bill.Once the customer pays the bill the status of the
product will be changed to delivered.
 The bill will be generated in PDF Format .
 Once the product gets dispatched there will be a decrease in product's stock.
 Admin can also checkout the product which has great demand & quantity of each
them by entering previous date to the current date of the sale.

USE CASE DIAGRAM
DESIGN(CONTD…)
• Use cases:
A use case describes a sequence of actions that provide something of measurable value to an actor
and is drawn as a horizontal ellipse.
• Actors:
An actor is a person, organization, or external system that plays a role in one or more interactions
with the system.
• System boundary boxes:
A rectangle is drawn around the use cases, called the system boundary box, to indicate the scope of
system. Anything within the box represents functionality that is in scope and anything outside the
box is not.
• This diagram represents the functionalities carried out by the different actors. Here the actors
include User, System, and RFID reader And the use cases includes the functionalities of each of
the actors.
IMPLEMENTATION
1. Every product has an RFID tag which contains a Unique ID. These ID’s are fed in the database
assigned to the corresponding products.
2. If there needs to be a purchase done, then that product can be dropped in the cart where the RFID
reader reads the tag. The information of the product is extracted and at the same time billing
information is also updated.
3. When a customer wants to remove any product from the trolley, then that product needs to be
scanned again.
4. At the same time the billing information is updated.
5. These steps are repeated until the end of shopping button or send bill button is pressed. This
generated bill is sent to billing side computer to get the computerized bill.
6. The customer can straight away pay the bill and leave..

CONCLUSION
1. In Our Project, we propose a secure smart shopping system utilizing RFID
technology.
2. This is the first time UHF RFIDis proposed in enhancing shopping experience and
secure issues are discussed in smart shopping.
3. We give a design of the secure tags and a complete communication structure for the
system to work.
4. Our future research will focus on improving the current system, for example, how to
reduce the computation overload at the smart cart side for higher efficiency, and how
to improve the communication efficiency while preserving security property.
FUTURE ENCHANCEMENT
1. Our future research will focus on improving the current system, for example, how to reduce the
computation overload at the smart cart side for higher efficiency, and how to improve the
communication efficiency while preserving security property.
2. The proposed system does not make use of intricate routing system architecture. Rather it uses
simple algorithms in order to banish existing problems.
3. Model can be further extended, to prevent the loosing of the intelligent/smart shopping cart.
4. It can be concluded that the initial cost of the model may be high but the in subsequent years the
model will be beneficial as compared to the system using barcode or manual system.
5. Further, a more advanced micro controller, larger display module and a service to pay the bill
within the cart by using swapping card can be used, thus providing the customers better services,
improved consumer experience and improving time complexity to a great extent.
