Goal 1: Eradicate Extreme Poverty – giving access to
alternative microfinance institutions to:
o Diversify the livelihood opportunities of poor people
making them more resilient to adverse negative
shocks;
o Allow the poor to plan for unanticipated and future
expenses;
o Enhance equitable distribution of national economic
growth;
o Provides an alternative mechanism for poverty
reduction (hunger and poverty).

Goal 2: Achieve Universal Primary Education -
Microfinance can lead to an increase in family income and
therefore enhance opportunities for children to
participate in full-time education
o Increases household budget to cover out- of-pocket
school fees such as books, uniforms and
transportation;
o Reduces the economic need to keep children out of
school and in income- generating activities;
o Decreases the likelihood that enrolled children will
drop out of school.

Poverty Eradication through Educational Programs
• One Family One Graduate Program
o Zero Dropout Program aims to provide funds for the poorest of the
poor families with elementary and high school-age students to acquire
basic education, making them able to read and write; provided
financial assistance to 610,022 members, which supported 758,168
beneficiaries, with loan outstanding amounting to Php430.13 million
with 99.53% repayment rate
o CARD Scholarship Program aims to serve its members through
educational support for their children, whom mostly, have difficulties
in sending their children to school; supported 12,405 students

1,840,691 members received CwE

o CARD Bank - 141,623 member stockholders
o CARD MBA - 100% owned by members
o BotiCARD - most influential shareholder are members
o CMIT – substantially owned by members
o CPMI – 49% owned by members

Health-related goals Goals 4, 5, and 6: Reduce child mortality,
improve maternal health and combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other
diseases:
o Reducing household income constraints can enable the
marginalized and disadvantaged population to address other
health issues exacerbated by poverty:
o Provides financial access to education, prevention and
treatment measures for HIV/AIDS, malaria and other infectious
diseases
o Enhances child and maternal health by providing access to
health care services and resources
o Provides access to health care insurance and protection &
improves availability of potable water

Goal 7: Ensure environmental sustainability;
Microfinance can help to improve environmental
sustainability when it:
o Includes education in rural resource management
which can enhance the sustainability of income-
generating activities and natural resources;
o Provides access to alternative agricultural inputs
which are environmentally friendly.

5,088 direct and indirect beneficiaries
(dried fish, turmeric, muscovado, among
others)
