Human Trafficking is a serious crime against humanity and a clear violation of human rights. Every year, men,
women and children fall victim to human traffickers worldwide. Human trafficking can be classified:
 Prostitution • Removal of Organs
 Force Labor • Other forms of Abuse

Worldwide Problem on Human Trafficking

According to the UNODC ( United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime)
report;

• 49% of the victims are Women

• 18% of the victims are Men
• 12% of the victims are Boys
• 21% of the victims are Girls For Women & Girls: For Men & Boys:
79% Sexual Exploitation 8% Sexual Exploitation
14% Force Labor 83% Force Labor
0.1% Organ Removal 1% Organ Removal
7% Others 8% Others
PROBLEM STATEMENT
In the Philippines, force labor and sex trafficking of men, women and children within the country remains a significant problem.
According to Global Index Slavery 2016, Survey data revealed, 69% recorded abuse within the Domestic labour Sector (25%
reported overseas and 75% within the Philippines). It is also reported that in the NCR, 800,000 women and children are believe
to be involved in sexual exploitation and which half are children while men are subjected to forced labour, with many working
in the construction industry, seafaring and maritime work, agriculture and manufacturing. Though the government showed
efforts of concern by putting up an anti-trafficking law it is still not enough. The US department of State recommended,
‘Increase the availability of specialized comprehensive services that address the specific needs of trafficking victims, with a
particular focus on expanding access to mental health care and services for male victims’.
Goals & Objectives
- Rescue those people who are subjected to human trafficking from traffickers that are clearly in violation of human rights
- To give refuge and give protection to address the specific needs of all human trafficking victims
- Give provisions to human trafficking victims to treat and rehabilitate their mental health issues
- To conceptualize a design and create an environment to help the victims recover from such traumatizing predicament
Sitio Sales is a small rural community located within Brgy. Pooc
Balayan Batangas.
Population: 319 Household: 72 Families: 90

PROBLEMS

- No electricity
- No running water
- No proper Healthcare Center
- No medicine supply
- No proper restrooms
- No mode of transportation
- No Daycare center for children
- No form of security within the
community
PROBLEM STATEMENT
Sitio Sales is a rural community that is quite far from civil society which makes it difficult for the residents to
access certain needs such as healthcare and education. Due to lack of transportation, residents have to
travel an estimated 5-6 km walk which would take them 45mins – 1 hour to get to the nearest establishment
to cater to their needs. Furthermore, the road is rough and rocky that would make it difficult for them to walk
on.
Goals & Objectives
- To create a facility that would cater the specific problems and concerns of the residents
- To provide the residents with basic necessities that they desperately need
- To create a facility where residents could gather and enjoy social and recreational activities
- To conceptualize a design that would adapt to the certain needs and environment of the community
Maternal health refers to the health of women during pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period. The
major problem of maternal morbidity and mortality includes: hemorrhage, infection, unsafe abortion, high
blood pressure, and obstructed labour. Though in the Philippines, maternal deaths and child deaths during
labour are not so common, we still have to be aware as we are a growing population.
Problem Statement
The Philippines faces unique challenges in aligning its health system with the needs of the inhabitants,
mainly because of the country’s geography and income distribution. Many communities are located in
isolated mountain regions and coastal areas. In rural areas, many births take place at home, where they are
often attended by unlicensed midwives and other unregulated traditional birth attendants. In these areas,
when hemorrhage and other birth-related complications arose, it was difficult to receive emergency obstetric
care due to poor road conditions and inadequate means of transportation.
Goals & Objectives
- To strengthen the ability of maternal healthcare in these rural areas to avoid birth-related complications to
occur.
- To cater and provide the specific needs of the residents regarding maternal healthcare
- To conceptualize a design which showcase efficient circulation while still conforming to the ideal design of
a maternal hospital
