Abstract
The goal of the project is to create a handheld data logger which will have an interface for
sensors.
The sensors could be Analog or Digital sensors.
The data will be logged via UART.
It can also have an Ethernet shield to send data to the cloud.
Data can be accessed easily through secured website.
The data logger can be deployed in various applications.
Abstract
One such example can be found in weather stations. The data logger will collect the sensor
data (temperature, humidity, wind) and this data can be used for weather prediction purposes.
Another application can be found in hiking tracker. Again temperature and humidity sensors
can be used to determine current weather conditions and a 3-way axis accelerometer can be
used for measuring tilt and altitude.
Other applications include gas analysis in cargo compartment on space craft.
Measuring hydration rates of cement pastes and gypsum.
Perishable food(mainly fruits and vegetables) in refrigerated containers in ships and road.
INTRODUCTION
A data logger is an electronic instrument that records data over a period of time .
Depending on the application data loggers , the measurements can include air, temperature,
relative humidity, light intensity, soil moisture, position, room occupancy and many more.
They are typically compact, equipped with internal micro controller, data storage and one more
sensor.
They can be deployed indoors, outdoors or underwater and can record data upto months at a
time.
Data logger can be stand-alone with internal sensors or may be multi channel data collection
instrument provisioned with one or more external sensors.
Literature review
In the research work of Kondamudi Siva Sai In work of Vivek Kumar Sehgal, Nitin, Durg
Ram, A.N.P.S.Gupta [1] have proposed an IOT Singh Chauhan and Rohin Sharma [2] have
based data logger system for weather developed a temperature data logger system
monitoring. by using IEEE 802.15.4 ZigBee protocol.
4 analog sensors interfaced with LPC 2148 are 8 bit microcontroller 89C51 and temperature
used. A WiFi module is also interfaced with sensor LM35-DZ is used.
the microcontroller.
Conversion of data from analog form to digital
The choice of microcontroller is an effective form by ADC
for the system, however the problem is that
LPC2148 requires a development board.
The sensors used are analog sensors.

Conclusion
 In conclusion, wireless data logger system for real time monitoring can be developed
according to the given structure shown earlier.
 The monitoring software in PC or smart phone can view and record real time information
from data logger.
 In addition, user has authentication to access and change the setting via monitoring
software. Data logger with external memory storage can store the sensed data to avoid data
lost if the wireless connection is lost.
