TOPIC OF DISCUSSION:
ARE PEOPLE USING SOCIAL MEDIA FOLLOWING ETHICAL
CODE OF CONDUCT OR NOT ?
OUR MAIN CONCERN:

• As far as the topic is discussed the domain is very much large consisting of
Facebook, WhatsApp, twitter, Instagram, YouTube, google accounts and
Gmail which includes different pages on Facebook, Instagram and
different groups of the WhatsApp and much more. As all of social media
platforms are widely used all over the world. But as according to the facts
and figure shown below:
• we decided to choose WhatsApp as our topic of discussion because of it
increasing usage in Pakistan and secondly all data can easily be collected
but our main concern was on our official class group that was BEE-2A.
MIAN TOPIC:

Our topic is “ARE STUDENTS USING BEE-

2A (ELECTRONICS) GROUP FOLLOWING
ETHICAL CODE OF CONDUCT OR NOT”
Working Principle AND FACT FINDINGS:

• Our whole working was based on three major steps according to which we further
proceeded:
• Checklist for WhatsApp group
• Flowchart diagram
• Screen shots of chats in group
And After performing brief discussion on above three points we will reach to our last step
that:
• Analysis of our project discussion
• conclusion
Checklist for WhatsApp Group:
This is the checklist for WhatsApp Group (BEE-2A) to check whether the students are following ethical code of conduct by
judging them on following points
• Is ethical topics discussed in the group?
• Is chat between students is ethical?
• Is that platform is suitable for discussing that particular issue?
• Are the students replying to each other timely or ignoring each other?
• Are they trying to help each by discussing problems?
• Are students trying to send useless message with the intention to disturb others?
• Are students sending messages in proper time or sending at late night?
• Are the memes send in group are following ethical code of conduct and is not to insult someone?
• Are students sharing study material with each other or not?
Introduction:

• Despite the range of positive uses of WhatsApp for students there are
also a number of ethical and legal issues associated with it uses. One
should be mindful that using WhatsApp can blur the boundaries between
personal and professional life
Every WhatsApp Group Has Unique Objectives:

• Groups are created for reasons. Arguably, some groups are created for
fun. But not all groups are created for that reason. Some groups are
created for updates on world affairs. Some are created for family
members to keep in touch. Some are for business coordination’s. Some
are for work or office related discussions. Some for academic
updates. Some groups are for hobby and happy riders. Sharing and
discussions in these groups vary and revolve around people’s mutual
interests and core objectives.
Excellent cooperation between group
members:

• There is excellent cooperation

between all of the group
members and if someone is in
need of favor or any help all
group members are willing to help
others.
Sending message late night:

• It’s 2 a.m. and your phone beeps.what is your feeling

Things that needs to be appreciated are shared
here:
Using group chat to converse with only one
member:

• People who fail to realize that they can use WhatsApp group to chat one
on one are a nightmare. There’s nothing worse than watching two
members of the group dissect an event they attended, or plan the logistics
of a night out that you’re not involved in.
Sending gross pictures:

• It is unkind to send people gross pictures that they don’t want to see, but
it’s especially unkind on Whatsapp.sharing unusal photo of your own or
sharing photos of your friends so to get attention in class group is totally
immaturity
Timely replying each other and helping others:

• When ever someone asks for any sort of help either i n question solution
or assignment there are some group members who are there to help
other in their issues and helping other without your own benefit is the
best act ever.
Pointing others mistakes in an ethical way
instead of making fun:

• Some group members are there to help and point out mistakes and tell
them there mistake instead of making fun in a sense oooh you donot
know about this! or in some other sense

Trend of delted message:

• Now the trend of deleted message is reduced to very much extent but it is
unethical to send message and then delete it for everyone so that it is not
visible to anyone as it make recivers curious about the message.these
were send by some group members just to as gesture of entertainment by
sending emoji and then deleting it
Analysis:

• After brief study of group chat for more than week our analysis is that one
cannot say that group is totally following ethical code of conduct as nothing is
perfect in this universe everything needs to be improve with time the best thing
is that there are most of group members who are ready to help and cooperate
with everyone in difficult time yet there are some ethical flaws like using bad
language ,making fun of others ,using group chat for messaging only one person
etc which need to be corrected so our analysis say that student who are mature,
fully educated are properly following ethical code of conduct. While there are
some students who need following suggestion to improve their ethical code of
conduct
Suggestions related to unethical behaviour
• Respect the purpose and objective and it shouldn’t be used to send messages or content of a personal nature
• 2. Don’t use groups just to send memes, videos, pictures and news, without reading and reacting to the content shared by others.
• 3. Never send content, information or “news” that HASN’T been verified. Placing content whose authenticity has not been definitively proven can be VERY dangerous and harm many people.
• 4. If you feel uncomfortable in a group for any reason, feel free to leave or “mute” the notifications. It’s better to be criticized for leaving than for always complaining.
• 5. Before sending a complaint to a group, identify the “administrator” and share your thoughts with him/her.
• 6. Don’t get angry if someone doesn’t respond to your messages in a group. No one is obliged to do so. Better send him/her a direct message.
• 7. Before sending a video, picture, meme or any content, analyze if such material will be in the interest of the majority of the members of the group.
• 8. When forwarding a message, picture or video and you’re choosing multiple recipients, avoid sending it to all your groups, since hardly the same content will be suitable or of interest to all.
• 9. Unless it’s a thematic group on politics or religion, avoid placing such content, since hardly all will have the same beliefs or political preferences. Avoid unnecessary debates.
• 10. Unless tolerated by all, avoid sending any content that is violent. It’s common for “only men groups” (or women) to circulate inappropriate content, but it’s important to ALWAYS keep in mind that many people may feel
uncomfortable, especially when the content affects someone’s reputation.
• 11. When replying to a specific comment from a person, use the “reply” function to make sense of your comment and avoid confusion.
• 12. When noticing that you’re having a dialogue with a single member of the group, consider changing the conversation to direct message, because the rest of the group may not be interested in reading your conversation
with another person.
• 13. Keep in mind that your words can be interpreted in multiple ways, so use short sentences that can’t be misinterpreted.
• 14. Don’t abuse emojis. There are some like this 😂 or 😭 that don’t require explanation, but others like this 😬 or 🤤 can be interpreted in different ways and generate confusion.
• 15. Avoid sending videos or files that are very large, since nobody likes to saturate the memory of their smartphone or waste their data/internet plan on nonsense.
Conclusion:

• As far as the BEE-2A Group is considered it is not used for the purpose for which
it was created as the name clearly states it is a class study group for discussion of
problems related to studies but now a days it is mostly used for unusual purpose
like discussion of Pakistan cricket matches and other lame topics. No doubt there
are some fellows who are always there for your help related to studies while
there are some other fellows who are just there to make fun of other
• As far as ethical behavior is concerned there are some unethical behavior as
described above need to be corrected so as to make the group chat totally ethical
