SOCIAL PROCESS
 Refers to the recurrent and patterned interactions or
responses of individuals to one another which have
attained stability.
Basic Processes
1. Cooperation
 This has to do with mutual aid or an alliance of persons
or groups seeking some common goal or reward.
2. Competition
 Involves two or more individuals or groups striving for a
goal or objective that only one can achieve.
3. Conflict
 A form of emotionalized and violent opposition in which
the major concern is overcome the opponent as a means of
securing a given goal or reward.
Derived Processes
1. Acculturation
 A social process whereby a group takes on some characteristics of another culture
through fairly close and long continued contract
2. Assimilation
 A process whereby persons or groups accept the cultural traits, attitudes, beliefs
and sentiments of another through direct, friendly, and continuous contact
3. Amalgamation
 Refers to some kind of biological fusion through intermarriage of persons coming
from different ethnic groups
4. Differentiation
 Refers to the creation of interest resulting in individuals or groups meeting oor
wanting different things or services rather than the same thing
5. Accommodation
 A process which involves the conscious effort of men to develop such working
arrangements among themselves that will suspend conflict and make their
relations more tolerable and less wasteful of energy.
Types of Accommodation
1. Domination – involves dominant-subordinate
relationship
2. Truce or pact – agreement
3. Compromise – a process of settling differences
4.Mediation – a form of settling disputes where a
neutral third party intercedes
5. Conciliation – the third party can be anybody to
settle the conflict
6. Arbitration – where the neutral third party has the
legal authority to decide on the conflict
7. Toleration – it is a result of “live and let live” policy
