 WHAT IS SOCIAL MEDIA NETWORK
• It is a computer-mediated tool that allow people to create, share,
or exchange information, ideas, and pictures/videos in virtual
communities and network.
• Social media have many facilities on same channel such as
communicating, texting, images sharing, audio and video
sharing, fast publishing, linking with all over world, and direct
connecting.
 TYPES OF SOCIAL MEDIA
1. Space – timers (Location and time sensitive) – Exchange of message
with relevance for specific location and time (Facebook, 2go, BB
chat)
2. Quick – time (Time sensitive) – Transfer of traditional social media
application to mobile services to increase immediacy (posting twitter
messages, status update WhatsApp, 2go, and updating display
picture (dp) BBM, 2go).
3. Space – locators (Location sensitive) – Exchange message with
relevance for one specific location which are tagged to certain place
(Badoo, Facebook.)
4. Slow – timers (Neither location nor time sensitive) – Transfer
traditional social media application to mobile devices (reading a
Wikipedia entry).
 BENEFITS OF SOCIAL MEDIA
1. Social media is about relationships and as people connect, relationships are
strengthened which then opens people up to the influence of their network of
friends.
2. According to the site pro-con.org, 60 million American received help with
major issues through their online social networks.
3. Social media can be a powerful tool for social change. In fact social media is
a great medium for Christian to increase their missional engagement.
4. Blogs can be a great source of information for a Christian and can give
them access to some of the great thinkers of the church world today.
5. YouTube can also be a source of spiritual teaching for the discerning
disciple.
6. Blogging can also be used by preachers who blog their sermons note
helping to increase the effectiveness of the preaching.
 NEGATIVE EFFECTS OF THE SOCIAL MEDIA

1. The digital disciple age may led to Clicktianity.

2. The tendency to tough times, they often air their dirty laundry, which can
mean overshare on social media means that when Christians are going
through at at their lives are lived inconsistently with their Christian values.
3. There can be incredible hatred on social media.
4. Economic Reductionism: It needs to be remembered that social media
sites were not started to help people connect. They were started to make
money.
