INTRODUCTION
 Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) PM Modi launches the Pradhan
Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana

 National Mission for Financial Inclusion to ensure access to financial services,


namely Banking Savings & Deposit Accounts, Remittance, Credit, Insurance,
Pension in an affordable manner.

 Launched by the Prime Minister of India Mr. Narendra Modi , on 28 August


2014. He had announced this scheme on his first Independence Day speech on 15
August 2014

 Run by Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance, on the


inauguration day, 1.5 Crore (15 million) bank accounts were opened under this
scheme.
The main objectives of PMJDY
 To achieve universal access to banking facilities.
 Providing basic bank accounts with banking facilities
 A robust financial literacy program
 Creation of a credit guarantee
 To provide micro – insurance to all willing and eligible
persons .
 To provide for a way to implement unorganized sector
pension schemes.
Benefits of PMJDY scheme
 Interest on deposits.
 Accidental insurance cover of Rs . 1 lakh.
 No minimum balance required .
 Life insurance cover up to Rs 30,000/-.
 Easy transfer of money across INDIA .
 Beneficiaries of government scheme will get
direct benefit transfer in those account.
 Access to pension insurance product.
 Over draft facility up to Rs 5000/-.
 Accidental insurance cover , Rupay debit card are
also in this scheme
