Small Groups Area Defense
Small Groups have fewer talent and combat resources, but they are much harder to detect.
Evacuating is faster and easier. Evacuation is preferred over combat.

Detect, Delay, Defend or Evacuate
• Detect
• The detection objective is to monitor large areas of space around the green
zone (BOL) to accurately detect possible unauthorized intrusion in time to
respond appropriately.
• Surveillance camera technology is very effective as an accurate detection tool.
• These have the ability to digitally or optically zoom into the area where intrusion was
detected.
• Tripwire Alarm Systems- Chem Lights and Sound Alarms
• Whatever the system- it must allow timely notification to security
personnel
Detect, Delay, Defend or Evacuate
• Delay
• The delay perimeter’s objective is to slow down an active intrusion enough to
force the intruder to give up, or allow the security team to respond.
• Mines, and booby traps.
Defend - Rules of Engagement
• Decide if you will fight or evacuate
• Fight - The defending force does not have to kill every enemy soldier, squad,
or combat system to be successful. It only has to destroy the enemy's ability
to synchronize his combined arms team or his will to fight.
• (If they run away…let them- move to another BOL)
• Establish Fields of fire and natural fighting positions (trees, felled trees, fox holes, rocks).
• Warning digging foxholes will make it easier to detect your BOL
• Warning building fighting positions from artificial materials (Sandbags, blocks, sawed
lumber) will make it easier to detect your BOL
• Evacuate and move to another BOL.
• Select your evacuation route with the most cover and concealment. Use
smoke to evacuate. Use escape and evasion techniques.
