WHAT IS PIEZO TECHNOLOGY ?
The term piezo derived from Greek word , piezien -
pressure, also known as pressure electrification

Piezo surgery based on piezo electric effect

in which certain ceramic and crystal are
deformed when electric current is passed
across them resulting in ultrasonic frequency

WHAT IS PIEZO TECHNOLOGY ?

Vibration obtained are amplified and transfer to
vibration tip which ,when applied with slight pressure on
bone result in cavitation phenomena i.e. mechanical
cutting , effect occur exclusively on mineralized tissue.

Frequency 25-30 KHZ (> 50 KHZ for

neurovascular soft tissue cutting ) ,Vibration:
60-210 micron amplitude ,handpiece power 5
watt ,water flow rate 60m/min.

PROPOSAL FOR 2nd LEVEL
We, the piezo-pearls team, have planned
to do complex total temporomandibular
joint replacement surgery using
acteon piezoelectric unit.

Total temporomandibular joint

replacement surgery is highly exacting
and sought with danger of bleeding
from near by vital structure like
maxillary artery .

Piezo electrical surgical unit offer high

precision in bone cutting and simultaneously
avoid injury to cranial base, external
auditory meatus while cutting making it a
ideal choice to do total TMJ replacement
surgery.

We will be using 3D printed guide for the

purpose of osteoarthectomy and alloplastic
total Temporomandibular joint fit to the
ramus condylar unit which can be replicated
only by the use of acteon piezosurgical unit.
Virtual software planning for proposed surgery with piezosurgical unit

TMJ ankylosis case with Proposed osteotomy cut Ankylotic chunk removed RCU reconstruction with total
chunk measurement by acteon piezotome with gap creation alloplastic joint replacement
A short glance from piezo-pearls...... Wait for the execution
