PANGLAO AIRPORT
FROM TAGBILARAN TO PANGLAO AIRPORT
Tagbilaran Airport was a Principal Class 1 airport serving the general area of Tagbilaran,
the capital city of the province of Bohol in the Philippines. The airport was closed for
scheduled passenger services on November 27, 2018.

On November 27, 2018, the airport was closed for scheduled passenger services from 6
PM onwards, being replaced by Bohol–Panglao International Airport.

The airport is a greenfield construction and is ten times bigger than the existing airport,
and handles approximately 800,000 passengers a year, whereas the new airport can
manage two million passengers a year.
Bohol–Panglao International Airport
Hailed as the “Green Gateway to the World,” the new airport functions on
environmentally sustainable structures and green technology to the
highest international standards.

IATA: TAG
ICAO: RPSP
Direction: 03/21
RWY Length: 2,500 m / 8,202 ft
Location: Tawala, Panglao, Bohol
Classification: International
Operator: Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines
Sustainable features of the new international airport in Bohol

As the country’s first “eco-airport,” the BPIA primarily utilizes natural ventilation. It
also harnesses solar energy from panels installed on the roof of the Passenger
Terminal Building (PTB), which will cover around 30% of the airport’s electrical
requirements including the hot water supply system.

Meanwhile, surrounding the airport is a landscape of 1,700 trees, 240,000 pieces of

shrubs and ground cover, and 11 hectares of sodding, designed to reduce carbon
dioxide emission in the airport.
The airport also utilizes environment-friendly equipment and facilities such as light
emitting diode (LED) lights, rainwater catchment pond, materials recovery facility,
soaking yard, energy-saving air conditioning systems, management system for
hazardous waste, and a sewage treatment plant for reuse or return to environment
of waste water.

Further, 624,100 seedlings are being planted on Bohol Island to compensate for the
trees cut within the airport site. This converts to 100 planted trees for every
indigenous tree cut during construction.
Bohol-Panglao Airport Expansion

The second phase of the Bohol-Panglao airport expansion project includes

expansion of its runway to 2,500m and passenger terminal building to 13,300m² to
enhance operational safety at the airport.

The Department of Transportation is planning to build a separate cargo terminal

and a parallel taxiway, fuel depot, and fuel hydrant system using the local funds.
The plan also includes further extension of the runway to 2,800m.
CHANGI AIRPORT
Singapore Changi Airport
Is the major civilian airport for Singapore, and one of the largest transportation hubs in
Southeast Asia. It is currently rated the World's Best Airport by Skytrax, for the seventh
consecutive year since 2013.It is also the first Airport in the world to do so for seven
consecutive years and is one of the world's busiest airports by international passenger and
cargo traffic.

IATA: SIN
ICAO: WSSS
Direction: 02L/20R; 02C/20C; 02R/20L
RWY Length: 4,000m / 13,123ft
Location: Changi, Singapore
Operator: Changi Airport Group; Civil Authority of Singapore; and Republic of Singapore Air
Force
For the 2018 full year figures published by the airport, the airport handled 65,600,000
passengers (a 5.5% increase over the previous year), the most in its 37-year history. This
made it the seventh busiest airport by international passenger traffic in the world and the
third busiest in Asia.

In December 2018, Changi Airport registered a total of 6.13 million passenger movements,
the highest the airport has ever achieved in a month since it opened in 1981. Its daily
traffic movement record was also broken on 21 December 2018, with 221,155 passengers
passing through during that day. In addition to being an important passenger hub, the
airport is also one of the busiest cargo airports in the world, handling 2.150 million tons of
cargo in 2018. The total number of commercial aircraft movements increased by 3.4% from
the previous year to 386,000 in 2018.

The airport has won over 594 awards since its opening, including 30 "Best Airport" awards
in 2018 alone. Changi Airport's efforts to mitigate the effects of ageing infrastructure
include continual physical upgrades to its existing terminals and building new facilities to
maintain its high standards in airport service quality.
Development Projects For Changi Airport
To stay ahead of the competition, continuous innovation is needed to maintain its leading
edge. The upcoming Jewel Changi Airport, targeted for opening in the first half of 2019, will
be a game changer for Changi Airport with its wide range of lifestyle offerings. Along with
the development of Jewel as a multi-dimensional, world-class lifestyle destination, T1 will
be expanded. The expansion will see Changi Airport’s capacity increase to 85 million
passengers per annum.
What exactly is the Jewel?
Containing over 280 retail and food/beverage
outlets, Jewel Changi Airport could easily be
written off as a beautiful shopping mall filled
with dramatic green spaces that just happens to
be connected to an airport.

Featuring a dramatic, doughnut-shaped exterior

framed in steel and glass, the 135,700-square-
meter space (around 1.46 million square feet) is
a multi-use complex designed to connect three
of Changi Airport's four terminals.
What’s next for Changi?

Beginning later this year, Singapore's Changi Airport Terminal 2 is set to undergo a five-year
expansion project that will include an overhaul of the departure check-in hall and transit area.

Planning for a massive Terminal 5 -- which will be about the size of all four terminals put together
-- is now underway, with the facility expected to open after 2030.

With the addition of the new capacity in Terminal 2, that will bring the overall passenger capacity
of Changi airport to 90 million passengers per annum, and with Terminal 5, Changi airport plans
to add another 50 million passenger-per-annum capacity.

So, by 2030, if everything goes according to plan, it’ll have a total of about 140 million
passenger-per-annum capacity at Changi.
Kids are in for a
spectacular treat, as
Changi Airport has
four indoor

Recommendations:

1. The Clark International Airport expansion project.

2. Equip airports with night-rating capabilities that will allow to accommodate evening
flights, thereby increasing their daily service capacity.

3. Construction of new airports

4. NAIA Rehabilitation

5. Improve/invest in safety, security, and quality
