What is Consumerism?
• Consumerism is defined
as social force designed
to protect consumer
interests in the market
place by organizing
consumer pressures on
business. It is ensured
by government.

To protect ourselves from:
• Adulterated goods
• Duplicated goods
• Breach of contracts
• Expired good
• Over pricing/ over charging
• Poor quality goods
• Hoarding of goods

Consumer Protection Act 1986

• It protects the
consumer from
exploitation that
businesses practice to
make profits which in
turn harm the well
being of the consumer
and society.

consumer and how to seek help or justice
when faced exploitation as a consumer.

Conclusion
• In the present digital era, the consumer has access to all the
information and the organizations are almost transparent.
• Consumer must exercise his right.
• Consumer must be cautious.
• The consumer must file case for redressal of only genuine
grievances.
• The consumer must be quality conscious,
• Consumer must insist for cash memo.
• Awareness of goods and services available in the market.
• Choosing legal products over illegal or black goods and
services.
