INTRODUCTION
 The palm vein technology is one of the
upcoming technology, developed by
Fujitsu in Japan.

 Ituses the vein patterns of palms to

confirm a person’s identity.

 It
is the world’s first contactless personal
identification system.
PRINCIPLE
 The vein with deoxygenated blood
absorbs near-infrared rays, looks as a
black region to the palm-vein scanner.

 Arteries and capillaries behaves opposite

to it.

 Thevein present in the palm is scanned

and verified and then accessed.
WORKING METHOD
 The database is created and their
personal data and registered vein
patterns are stored.

 The palm vein image gets converted into

data points by algorithms.

 If the received pattern gets matched, the

requested application is activated.
REGISTERING PROCESS
 Hold the palm a few centimeters above
the scanner and it reads the vein
patterns within seconds.

 Now, the palm vein pattern gets

registered and stored in the database.

 Database - personal details + registered

vein pattern.
MATCHING PROCESS
 Capturing - Infrared ray image of the
palm kept over the scanner is captured.

 Pattern recognition - palm vein image

is converted into data points by
algorithms to check pattern recognition.

 Storing the pattern - store the

recognized data points to storage
devices.
METHODS OF IMAGING
 Reflection - target part is
illuminated from front. Illumination
device and capturing device can be
combined.

 Transmission - target part is

illuminated from back/side.
Illumination device and capturing
device must be used separately.
PERSONAL COMPUTERS
 The sensor in the mouse scans the vein
patterns.

 If the received pattern matches with the

registered pattern, the access is
accepted, else it gets denied.

 It can also be used as password to lock

folders that are personal.
DOOR LOCKING &
ATM’S
 Door - High range security can be
maintained by registering our family’s
vein patterns whereas an unknown person
cannot open and enter in.

 ATM - The access gets denied if a person

with unrecognized vein pattern tries to
access the account. The risk of fraudulent
withdrawals can be reduced by this
technology.
ADVANTAGES
 High accuracy (uniqueness – identical
twins)
 Contactless, hygienic, non-invasive.
 Difficult to forge for intruders.
 2.18 second recognition speed.
 No physical contact ( user - system)
 Effect : Near-infrared ray << walking in
sunlight.
CONCLUSION
 Has to be developed in our country to
bring the revolution to the science and
technology field in the future.

 Secured when compared with

fingerprint, iris and voice.

 Theneed to secure personals has become

important in the modern life and it can
be achieved through the technology.
