What artificial intelligence means?

 Study of computer systems that attempt to model and apply the

intelligence of human mind.
 A branch of Computer science that deals with the simulation of
intelligent behaviour of computers.
 Commonly known as machine intelligence.
Some Daily used AI

 Ok GOOGLE (Android)
 iPhone’s SIRI (Apple)
 Windows CORTONA search. (Microsoft)

 All these AI(s) are developed to search the internet, make calls, take notes,
set reminders and type messages using voice recognization.
History of AI
 In 1950s, an English mathematician “ALAN TURING” had raised up a
question in front of the world asking, “If machines could think?”
 John McCarthy is one of the "founding fathers" of artificial intelligence,
together with Marvin Minsky, Allen Newell and Herbert A. Simon. McCarthy
coined the term "artificial intelligence" in 1955, and organized the famous
Dartmouth Conference in Summer 1956. This conference started AI as a
field .
Advancement in use of AI from 20th
century to 21st century…
 In the early 1980s, AI research was revived by the commercial success
of expert systems, a form of AI program that simulated the knowledge and
analytical skills of human experts. By 1985, the market for AI had reached
over a billion dollars.
 In the late 1990s and early 21st century, AI began to be used for
logistics, data mining, medical diagnosis and other areas. The success was
due to increasing computational power.
 Deep Blue became the first computer chess-playing system to beat a well
known world chess champion, Garry Kasparov on 11 May 1997.
Enhancement in AI from last few years

 According to Bloomberg's Jack Clark, ‘2015’ was a landmark year for

artificial intelligence, with the number of software projects that use AI within
Google increased from a "sporadic usage" in 2012 to more than 2,700
projects in 2015.
 Clark also presents factual data indicating that error rates in image
processing tasks have fallen significantly since 2011.
 In a 2017 survey, one in five companies reported they had "incorporated AI
in some offerings or processes".
Current status of AI

 AI has taken various shapes and forms over recent years like
1. In mobile phones (Siri, Cortona)
2. GPS
3. Video game characters(Bots in online games)

AI is still undergoing advancement day by day and we may notice AI robots

acting like a proper human being will be an open source in coming years.

Future of AI

 Improved medical care and treatment.

 Improved self driving cars
 Open up doors for future explorations
Pros of AI

 Precise and accurate

 Can do repetitive and boring tasks
 Manage records
 Detect frauds
 Advanced robots
 Space exploration
 Work in hazardous jobs like chemical factories
 Artificial Human organs
Cons of AI

 Lacks common sense

 Lacks a creative mind like humans
 Lead to unemployment
 Wrong hands may cause destructions
 Diminishing of human mind ability
 Destroy humans
