RF/ Infra/ EoHS Survey
 IoT BS Installation
• Opening & Closing the IOT Gateway
• To open the GW insert a small screw drive in the slot on
the radio, Gently press & twist the screw driver, the lower
flap will flip open. Flip open the top flap gently to open the
radio.
• The Radio can be opened from both sides.
• To close the GW just press the lower flap gently.
• Ensure the GW is properly closed

 DC SPD Physical Installation

• DC SPD along with fixture needs to be installed inside the
IoT BS in the space marked in red .
• In the space shown align the holes of the radio and SPD
fixture and pass through the screws and tighten with
Screws provided.
• Push the SPD module aligning the DIN rail of fixture and
SPD. To remove the SPD, Pull the slot down to release the
DIN lock.
Gateway Configuration and Provisioning
 Step by Step Gateway Configuration
1. Note down the Gateway ID (MAC address of CPU) and 3G SIM card mobile number
2. Take the production.zip file and extract the file on the laptop
3. Get a clean USB drive and store extracted files at the root, Following files will be there in USB at root:
 gwd_kerlinkv2_update_r135.tgz
 owinst_tata_anonymous.tgz
 usb.autorun
 usbkey.txt
4. For configuring the Radio we will be using an AC POE and straight cat 5 cable
5. Connect a 1mts Straight patch chord to the PoE port of the Radio by passing throught the Radio Glands, the other
side of the cable will be plugged to the Ethernet port of the AC POR.
6. Power on the Gateway with AC Power Supply.
7. Standard Mini SIM card (25 mm X 15 mm) is required for Gateway and put the SIM card in SIM slot. Please align the
Sim as per the diagram given on the radio.
8. Insert USB drive in the USB slot in the Gateway. You will find orange LED on the debug port flash a few times then
remain lit for (5 – 10 sec) and then start flashing fast.
9. The fast flashing of LED means file on USB key has been installed and you can remove the USB key. After removing
USB key Gate way will reboot itself.
10. Wait for approximately 10 min. and send following SMS to the 3G sim (10 digit 3G SIM mobile number) inserted in
gateway.
11. Send SMS as below from the phone
gwstatus:tataorb42
Gateway Configuration and Provisioning
12. If the gateway is in ready state for provisioning, you will receive an SMS back with gateway ID.

13. If you don’t receive any SMS then repeat steps 7 to 10 again.
14. Verify the gateway ID you received through SMS and ID physically mentioned on gateway if they are same, you can
go to next step, else check the 3G SIM mobile number, and re-perform the steps 10 and onwards
15. Send the following SMS to set the password:
setup:tataorb42 smsp:smsorbi, nwkp:testconnect1234, nwkip:52.31.175.118
16. You will receive message similar message as shown below, if you do not receive any message then check the
syntax and repeat step 15. If you receive “setup:ERROR” message the repeat the step 15 again.

17. After the confirmation of the above SMSes , Send following SMS:
setup:smsorbi rootp:rootorbi, usbp:usborbi, supp:suporbi
Gateway Configuration and Provisioning 1.ds

18. You will receive following message for the confirmation against the above command as shown below, if you do not
receive any message then check the syntax and repeat step 17. If you receive “setup:ERROR” message the repeat
the step 17 again.

19. Login to https://tata-ind.orbiwise.com:8443 User Name: “ABC” Password “XYZ”

20. In first phase, csv file with gateway ID and its authorization code will be uploaded in the network and valid
gateways will be authorized in the NST.
RF/ Infra/ EoHS Survey
 AMS & Antenna Location Section & Installation
• From maximum possible height, there should not be obstruction of any kind upto 200m radius
• AMS to be fixed at the maximum height available on the RTT / RTP. In cases of GBT the
maximum height to be restricted to 35 mts from the ground.
• The location of the AMS should be in such a way, the omni antenna should get the maximum
horizontal & vertical separation from the existing CDMA/GSM Antennae.
• AMS should be installed with “0” degree tilt and should be measured with Tilt meter.

Omni Antenna Installed on AMS Clamp AMS Clamp with Tilt meter
RF/ Infra/ EoHS Survey
 Cavity Filter Installation
• Cavity filter to be installed on the RTP/RTT/GBT element above the AMS clamp with the SS ties supplied.
• RF OUT port of the Cavity filter will be connected to the RF jumper cable coming from the Antenna.
• RF IN port of the Cavity filter will be connected to the N male port of the IoT BS through the RF Surge Arrestor.
RF Spectrum Scan
1. Install the AMS (for Survey we can use PVC AMS) on RTT/POLE/Tower leg at appropriate
height and tower Leg with some scope for fine alignment after spectrum scan.
2. Ensure Antenna is installed vertically without any tilt
3. Install the Antenna, Cavity filter, ODU Clamps on the tower as per the instruction given.
4. Connect the Antenna, cavity filter, Radio with RF jumper cable.
5. Ensure both Jumper cable connected properly.
6. For the RF survey we can use ordinary Cat 5 Cable and PoE of the sufficient length.
7. Connect one end of the Cat 5 cable to the Ethernet port of the Radio by passing through the
radio cable glands.
8. Connect the other end of the Cat 5 cable to the Lan port of the AC POE.
9. Plug in the AC power and power up the POE.
10. Call PM/Regional SPOC to run spectrum scan at installed antenna heights. Check jumper
cables if spectrum characteristic is straight line graph @ -120 dBm.
11. Optimize on same leg through alignment (vertical, horizontal and angular) and repeat step
10.
12. Repeat step no 1 to 11 for two times on different Pole/Tower leg.
13. If spectrum scan found within acceptable range <= - 116 dBm (+/- 2 dBm) choose the best
position derived from step 11 and 12 and go to step 15 else If spectrum scan not found
within acceptable range attempt P2/P3 candidates and repeat steps 1 to 12.
14. Exit site and generate and submit to TCL team, the survey report for P1/P2 and P3 candidates
at different locations including spectrum scan
 DC SPD Connectivity
• Connect one side of the Red cable to the SPD port marked
+/- and other side to +ve side of the Radio Power Port
Green Connector.
• Connect one side of the Black cable to the SPD port
marked and fasten the ring lug to the butterfly nut of
the radio and other side to the -ve side of the Radio
power Port green Connector.
