HAPPY
LEARNING
SCHOOL
BACKGROUND

Happy Learning School is a non-profit kindergarten

school located in Manila Avenue, Subic Bay Freeport Zone,
Olongapo City. It is dedicated to serving children ages 5-6
years old. Our school is serving a diverse population of
children and families focusing on the development of the
whole child with respect and compassion. We aim to make
our school a very happy and caring place. We care very
much about the children and recognize that all children are
individuals and special. Our school is a safe place for
children to explore, take chances, make messes and learn
through play. At Happy Learning School we nurture wonder,
we embrace joy, and we foster discovery.

PHILOSOPHY
The Happy Learning School is guided by constructivist philosophy
in teaching. We believe that children have a natural longing to
explore and learn about their world. We believe that the school
can support that desire by providing well-planned hands on as well
as indirect learning activities. It is vital for this task to work in close
partnership with parents encouraging each child to be a valued and
responsible member of both the school and the whole community.
It is important that parents and teachers work together as partners
in the education of all students.
THEORIES
JD John Dewey
Learners are not passive recipient of knowledge but are more active in the
process. Students build on previous experience in order to make sense of
what they are learning. They are more active in the creation of meaning and
knowledge. This leads to a more student centered approach in which the
student guides his own learning.

MM Maria Montessori
Her method is general based on the idea that children learn best when the
environment supports their natural desire to acquire skills and knowledge.
The classroom is designed around three key points: the teacher, the child
and the environment. Each child works at his own pace. There is no
pressure from teachers to work faster and the teachers offer guidance for
building on skills as needed.
