BACKGROUND TO STUDY
THE RESEARCH QUESTION
1. What are the requirements for
successfully integrating a
sustainable CMMS into a reactive
based maintenance strategy?
 Has a well-developed
reactive maintenance system
 Well documented history of
breakdowns and repairs
 Organisation is ready in
terms of tools and its
processes
 Using CMMS as a tool rather
than using it as the strategy
 Identification of change
management activities during
transition process

PROJECT IMPLICATIONS
Who will benefit from the research?
Jacobi Carbons Philippines Inc.

How will they benefit from it?

• It will provide them the information needed on to which part of the current reactive
maintenance strategy they are deficient in implementation.
• The company will have a better idea of the right CMMS to support their maintenance
activities and ensure effective communication in the organization.
• It will raise awareness of the importance of CMMS and its role in creating a
sustainable system and maximizing its full potential going into a more proactive
maintenance strategy

How will you share your research to concerned parties or participants?

• Email the research project results
• Create a forum with the participants to openly discuss the research findings and
recommendations during close out and project termination
ETHICAL APPROVAL
What are the procedures to ensure that the research will be carried out ethically?
1. Send out emails containing a one page project information sheet prior to answering the
survey forms which contains the following:
a. Purpose and objective of study
b. Contact details of researcher
c. Statement of withdrawal and simple process for withdrawing from the research
d. Statement of confidentiality will be exercise for the duration of the research
e. Consent form

How will you observe privacy?

1. Assign unique identifier codes to participants

2. Survey forms and consent forms will be saved in a password protected external drive kept in
a secure filing cabinet for a minimum of 5 years.

Non-maleficence?
1. Review survey questions for any topic that probes further into person’s emotional well being.

and enjoyed learning about?
Incorporating ethical considerations in research design.
What have you struggled with? What aspects did you find difficult
with this paper?
Selection of the best suited research design method, data collection
and data analysis
Why do you think students may find research difficult or
overwhelming?
1. The problem of not having a problem
2. Difficulty of Narrowing the problem to a more specific problem
3. Problem on how to go about the research methodology
