THE WORLD’S PREFERED SECURITY ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENTS

Target Segments

(Wednesday, July 10, 2019) Slide (2)

PROJECT DESIGN

(Wednesday, July 10, 2019) Slide (3)

Project design
• Meet the customer understand his problem as to why he needs CCTV, try to
understand what he wants to achieve by installing CCTV

• Few of the obvious questions while discussion may be:

– Area to be covered
– Level of coverage

• Try to figure out the areas of broad coverage

• Try to figure of the areas where recognizable faces situation is
• At entry gates customer wants visitors/works faces recognizable or not?
• At main gate entries does customer need Vehicle license plate recognition
or not? Some cases customer may need license plate + vehicle driver

(Wednesday, July 10, 2019) Slide (4)

Project design

– Does the customer need indoor/outdoor night vision

– How many days storage customer is looking at.

– May be explain the customer about different resolutions available like CIF, D1
& Megapixel. Or you may suggest after understanding the budget an need.

– May be explain advantages or dis-advantages or IP/Analog technology and

then take consent from customer which technology would they prefer or
alternatively suggest from your end.

– The above two points discussion may preferably be done with tech savvy
customer some may rather get confused, most of the times
integrator’s/consultants suggestion works out to be better.

(Wednesday, July 10, 2019) Slide (5)

Project Design

• Discuss about control needs

– How many places customer would like to monitor the surveillance
– Number of cameras to be viewed at a time
– Discuss if any hotspots

• Additional requirements
– Emap, Redundancy, Analytics, Joy stick controller etc

(Wednesday, July 10, 2019) Slide (6)

Project design

• Survey the site thoroughly, preferably with site plan

– While survey mark the location of the camera on site map, same may be used as
emap later

– While survey coverage area must be taken into account to decide about right
cameras and right lenses

• Example: 3.6mm lens should suffice a coverage area of 20x20 feet

• Take help of Lens Calculator for more accuracy

• Higher FOV lens may be used for smaller areas like lifts, small cabins etc.

• A Vari-focal lens may be used in case of ambiguity, vari-focal would address range of
coverage (This ciaos has given the birth to VF lens)

• A more appropriate way be carrying a box camera with 5-6 lens and keep
experimenting where to fit which lens

(Wednesday, July 10, 2019) Slide (7)

Project design - Lens Examples

(Wednesday, July 10, 2019) Slide (8)

Project design - Lens Examples

• Vari-focal or Zoom Lens behavior

(Wednesday, July 10, 2019) Slide (9)

Project design – Angle of view

Focal Length 3.6mm 6mm 8mm 12mm

Horizontal Field of View 72 44 33 23
(degrees)

• Focal Length:
– The Focal Length is measured in mm. As a guide,
– a short focal length (e.g. 2.5mm) = a wide angle of view
– a long focal length (e.g. 16mm) = a narrow angle of view
– the smaller the CCD Chip - the narrower the angle of view

Introduction to Lens Calculator

Online Calculator on www.cpplusworld.com

(Wednesday, July 10, 2019) Slide (11)
Project design
• Site Survey

– Check the cable routes for feasibility

– Try to calculate the cable lengths so as to quote the approx cable

• May consult an electrical engineer to understand better ways for cable
routing and length calculations

– Survey the place where control or any other viewing station is to be

facilitated
• Check the size/space of the place whether all intended components fit well.
• Must check the provision of Air conditioning, UPS, Proper power supply and
grounding etc

(Wednesday, July 10, 2019) Slide (12)

Project design

• Now its time to design an offer and making of BOQ

– Number and type of cameras

– Additional components like

• Approximate cable length
• Connectors
• Power supplies etc.
• Poles
• Mounting
• Custom casing
• Lenses

(Wednesday, July 10, 2019) Slide (13)

Project design

– Storage components
• Storage devices like
– DVR
– NVR
– PC + NAS

• No. of recorders
– No. of DVRs would simply depend on number of cameras
– No. of NVRs would be a bit subjective to the needs, a 16 channel NVR
would generally record 16 IP cameras in D1 res. But would record only 4
cameras in Full HD (2MP) res. Datasheet or vendor may be consulted to
come up with exact number of NVRs
– PC + NAS would mostly be required in case of IP Cameras, the number of
PCs and NAS storage would depend of number of cameras and res. / frame
rate to be recorded

HDD Capacity Calculation

(Wednesday, July 10, 2019) Slide (16)

HDD Capacity Calculation

(Wednesday, July 10, 2019) Slide (17)

Project design

– Network needs

• Number of switches would depend on number of networking products like a 16

IP camera network may need a 24 port switch to connect 16 cams + 1NVR + 1
Client
• Bandwidth Calculation using CP Plus Storage Calculator

– Monitoring station
• Depending on number of cameras and customers needs would derive us
number of monitors, their size and number of PCs
• Some cases DVR’s / NVR’s VGA/HDMI ports can used for monitoring
• Larger cases or peculiar needs you may need to introduce CMS
– CMS leads to requirement of PCs
– No. of PC would again depend on number of cameras
• For large number of monitors, a professionals control room console must be
considered
